Role Purpose

Airtel Tanzania PLC wishes to recruit a Regional Sales Head. The role reports to the Sales and Distribution Director. The regional head will develop and execute regional strategy and plans derived from the Sales and Distribution Department. The Regional Head will implement strategy and plans within the region and across GSM and Airtel Money distributions.

Key Responsibilities.

Oversees the entire profit and loss for the region.

Dedicated to long-term planning, with in-depth knowledge of the GSM business and Airtel Money's interconnected product and service offerings; adept at spotting possibilities for Airtel and seeing them through to fruition.  

2. Act as a critical representative/liaison of Airtel Tanzania Plc within the region with Key stakeholders.

Delivering results, setting clear and challenging objectives, being collaborative and involved in their approach, negotiating and influencing stakeholders to obtain preferential positioning for their activities, being able to see the big picture, ensuring the minor details are accounted for, and making unpopular decisions if necessary.

Customers first: Listens to and understands customers' needs. Reviews service levels and evaluates feasibility and profitability of service. Makes sure the team focuses on delivering customer needs.

3.Manages a diverse Portfolio within the region, directly or indirectly, across marketing, sales, emerging markets, technology, safety, and human resources.

Managing a changing environment: Inquisitive, curious, keen to learn, and thirsty for knowledge. Consistently puts forward new ideas and solutions. Analytical: ability to think things through to a logical conclusion and perceive things from different perspectives. Perceives interrelationships between variables, deciphers cause and effect relationships, and anticipates consequences of actions. Proactively dismantles barriers to change and continuously looks for ways to improve working methodologies.

4. Establish a formidable presence in the field of competition.

Having a strong grasp of the market, competitors, and customers demonstrates commercial acumen.

Qualifications and Experience.

Educational Qualifications & Functional / Technical Skills

  • Degree in business, sales, or marketing or equivalent business or sales management training.
  • MBA is an added advantage.

Relevant Experience (Type of experience and minimum number of years)

  • Nine years experience in marketing /commercial/strategy experience/
  • Experience in strategy articulation is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of Mobile Telecoms or related industries, strategy issues, and problem-solving approaches.
  • Customer-obsessed and solution-oriented.
  • Strong change leader
  • Specific knowledge of network, sales, and distribution value chain plus business management in a commercial context

Other requirements (Behavioral etc.)

  • Superior negotiating abilities; history of accomplishment includes a number of fruitful pitches for new clients.
  • Excellent public speaking and presentation abilities—to pique an audience's interest, prove one's trustworthiness, and earn their trust.
  • Proficiency in addressing formal requests for information (RFIs) and requests for proposals (RFPs) from well-known brands.
  • Capacity to oversee the creation of leads and the monitoring of the sales funnel.
  • Exceptional business sense and an enterprising spirit
  • Acquaintance with the Tanzanian marketplace.
