VisionFund Tanzania Microfinance Bank Ltd (VFT MFB), formerly known as SEDA, is a fast-growing and reputable Micro Finance Bank (MFB) that has a loan book of more than T.Z.s. 44 billion and more than 60,000 customer base, more than 5,000 of them being smallholder farmers. VFT-MFB is seeking to employ a dynamic and committed young Tanzanian man & woman who has a passion for people's economic development to fill the vacant position detailed here below;

JOB TITLE: Regional Manager

Reporting to: Chief Operations Officer

Responsibility:

At the regional level, VFT's commercial business is led overall by the Regional Managers (RM). The primary duties of the role holder are to oversee business centre managers in the designated Region and guarantee that all the centres under their control reach the monthly and annual business goals. They are in charge of carrying out the bank's plan to lower operational risk at VFT by the established business objectives. This includes performance management, risk management, and internal controls management. The role guarantees the expansion of the loan and deposit portfolio while upholding adherence to national rules and regulations and bank policies. Using VFT's social performance framework, the job holder also ensures that the bank's goods and services consistently improve the lives of its customers. Furthermore, the incumbent ensures that VFT closely integrates works with World Vision Area Programs to foster economic development for low-income entrepreneurs.

Main tasks

1. Performance Management

Ensure that all branches surpass the monthly and annual business targets by supervising the management and employees in the Region. Business centre managers through performance mentoring and coaching.

• Uphold a strict code of discipline throughout the Region and ensure every manager consistently meets their goals.

2. Adherence to the regulations and policies of the bank

• Oversee the branch's implementation of policies, standards, and procedures and make sure that all business operations follow protocol.  

• enforces adherence to local regulatory regulations according to the relevant laws.

3. Department administration: Ensure the branch network keeps correct and current client records.

• Keep accurate, clean, and well-organized files about the performance of the various areas, especially those about Branch Managers and Regional Managers.

4. Department Reporting: Analyze financial indicators, such as deposits, channel performance, disbursements, client retention, growth of various products, branch profitability and delinquency, and prepare reports on these indicators for the COO.  

• Make sure all branch and overall reporting is accurate and comprehensive.

5. Business Development • Oversee branch network to guarantee that all business targets, such as those related to the loan portfolio, deposits, client and revenue targets, portfolio quality criteria, etc., as assigned by the COO, are met.

• Work with the marketing managers and head of business development to drive sales strategy toto grow the loan portfolio and deposits, attract new customers, and keep existing ones.

6. Development of Products and Systems

• Participate in the annual update of the rules, procedures, norms, and operations manuals.

• Assess the features of the loans, retail deposits, and other services, and make any necessary adjustments (with the management team's collective consent).  

7. Planning and Managing Finances

• Using feedback from branch managers and the management team, create yearly plans and budgets for the Branch Network and expansion.

• Authorize branch spending that stays within the allocated budget;

8. Credit Risk Management: This guarantee keeps all branches' portfolios at risk at no more than 5% PAR > one day.

• Guarantees that the loan loss rate stays below the upper bound of two per cent.

9. Combining Social Performance Management and World Vision

• Leads the company's social performance initiative by focusing on the appropriate clientele as outlined in VFT's framework for social performance.

• Maintain tight working relationships with all A.P. Managers and make sure that VFT's operations are in line with World Vision A.P.s.

11. Required Qualifications:

• a minimum of ten years of senior operational management experience, ideally in a bank or microfinance institution, and a minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in business, accounting, finance, or a similar field of study. A minimum of seven years of experience in senior operational management, particularly in a bank or microfinance institution, and an MBA in business, accounting, finance, or a comparable field of study are prerequisites.

• Proficient in risk management, budgeting, operations, deposit product and system development, and strategic planning. It is advantageous to be familiar with cutting-edge channels and technology (such as internet infrastructure and banking, ATMs, prepaid cards, mobile phone banking, and point-of-sale devices).
