Job Overview
To oversee space use, capacity management, and infrastructure planning in our data center, we are looking for a Data Center Whitespace Planner. The job calls for knowledge in creating effective layouts, the best use of available space, and industry-standard compliance. Working together with engineers, architects, and operations teams, the perfect candidate will preserve a scalable data center environment.
Key Responsibilities
One is space planning.
Create and apply a well-designed data center floor plan to best use available space.
Arrange power units, cooling systems, networking gear, and server racks with purpose.
2. Strategic Use of Space
Improve operational efficiency and performance by means of data center layouts.
Make sure components of the IT infrastructure are properly arranged to facilitate flawless operations.
3. Capability Control
Track, project, and control space, power, and cooling capability.
Use proactive approaches to stop either underuse of resources or overuse of them.
4. Positional of Equipment
To preserve airflow, cooling, and simple maintenance access, guarantee the ideal location of IT equipment.
5. Design of Rack Layering
Create floor designs and thorough rack elevation diagrams for effective server and equipment placement.
6. Compliance with Standards
Verify adherence to industry norms and legal requirements concerning data center operations.
Keep environmental standards, security, and safety for the IT infrastructure.
7. Work together
Collaboratively with operations teams, engineers, and architects, match space planning techniques with corporate goals.
8. Innovation and Optimization
Review and suggest innovative technologies to increase operational effectiveness and whitespace planning.
Keep informed on sector trends to apply best practices in data center management.
9. Scalability and Future Expansion
Make future expansion and data center scaling plans to fit changing corporate needs.
10. Assessments and Site Surveys
Perform frequent evaluations to examine space use and point out areas for optimization.
11. Additional responsibilities
Support general data center operations by taking extra duties prescribed by management.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or a closely allied subject.
An MBA or master's degree adds much more benefit.
A plus is certifications in data center design, capacity planning, or allied disciplines.
Experience Requirements:

Minimum of eight years of expertise running mission-critical facilities.
Demonstrated knowledge in facility design, capacity control, or data center whitespace planning.
Experience in data center modeling for the telecommunication sector is quite sought after.
knowledge of access control, surveillance systems, data center security policies.
Excellent awareness of data center infrastructure—including power distribution units, cooling systems, server racks, and networking equipment.
Experience in project management will help whitespace planning efforts be executed successfully.
