The bank is a retail commercial bank with a specific focus on serving the poorest Tanzanians and their enterprises. It operates as a microfinance bank. As of 2019, its total assets were valued at TSh 169.4 billion (approximately US$72.64 million), with shareholders' equity of TSh 21.4 billion (approximately US$9.18 million). In 2013, Akiba Commercial Bank was ranked "the best customer-focused bank in Tanzania" due to its convenience, customer care, and pricing.

The headquarters of Akiba Commercial Bank is located at Amani Place, along Ohio Street, in the central business district of the city of Dar es Salaam, the financial capital and largest city in Tanzania.

As of 2016, Akiba Commercial Bank operated a network of branches, in Dar es Salaam, Arusha, Dodoma, Mwanza, and other urban centers in the country.

Channels And Integration Specialist

The position is instrumental in supporting the bank’s digital transformation. The position requires programming skills in both the front-end technologies targeting user experience (UX) as well as backend technologies to enable seamless integration of backend systems to user-facing systems (Channels), and the ability to support and develop Enterprise Service Bus (ESB). The bank’s lending culture provides an additional opportunity to work on new and existing system solutions in the areas of credit process automation as well as strengthening the bank’s arrears management within the bank. Digital channel adoption by the bank requires the incumbent to have the ability to develop, support, and make changes to digital channels.

THE ROLE

1. Confirms project requirements by reviewing program objectives, input data, and output requirements with analysts and clients to produce software designs.
2. Arrange project requirements in programming sequence by analyzing requirements; and preparing work flow charts and UML diagrams using knowledge of computer capabilities, subject matter, programming languages, and logic.
3. Develop software using the right tools and systems.
4. Development and customization to the existing systems (e.g., ESB)
5. Integrate software solutions to higher-level systems.
6. Perform unit testing and participate in user user-accepting testing process.
7. Prepares technical and user operational manuals of the systems.
8. Test code periodically to ensure it produces the desirable results and perform debugging when necessary
9. Perform upgrades to make software and systems more secure and efficient
10. Maintain proper documentation of the software systems.
11. Use version control frameworks to track changes made in the software systems.
12. Supporting channels, other peripheral systems, and API to third parties.

Academic:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, information technology, software Engineering, or a related field.

Professional:

1. Professional qualifications in IT e.g....Unix / Linux / Windows / C # / C++/ Java /XML / Python etc.
2. Project management certification e.g., Prince2, PMP
3. IT service management framework e.g., ITIL, COBIT5

Desired work experience:

1. Minimum 2 years working experience in IT in implementing and supporting bank applications
2. Familiarity with computer operating systems (Unix/Linux/Windows), and relational database technology (design, software, and structure).
3. Knowledge of web and mobile app development using any popular web framework is an added advantage.
4. Knowledge of Shell scripting and SQL scripting
5. Fast in learning new skills and technologies.
6. Proven skills in system analysis, design, implementation, and support Familiarity with industry best practices in
7. Data Management Systems.
8. Meticulous attention to detail and logical approach to work.
9. The ability to prioritize tasks.
