Summary of Employment

Fixed Income & Forex Sales: Financial Institutions

By means of improved income contribution from this market segment through outstanding customer service to so position the bank favourably to the clients in scope, so promoting and driving Absa Tanzania's business plan for institutional clients.
Focus areas include structured products to all commercial banks, vanilla and non-vanilla products to microfinance banks not on Reuters, non-bank financial institutions, developmental organisations, and local and regional institutional clients such as pension funds excluding fixed income.
Developing and strengthening long-term relationships based on trust and effective and consistent customer service support helps one to manage and sustain a portfolio of customer relationships drawn from the non-bank financial institutions and non-primary dealing banks segments.
This is especially accomplished by fast and pertinent judgements and transaction execution, as well as by controlling consistency and quality along the operational service chain.
Meet FI Sales targets (fixed income and FX)
Business development will be under the responsibility of the jobholder to attract fresh clients and keep current ones under the portfolio.
Assist the Head with FI Sales function development and management.
Career Description

Main accountabilities and approximative time division

Responsibility: Service and Sales: 60%

Encourage the growth and penetration of FI Sales business to targeted target clients and widen the clientele.
Review the targets for volume and profitability established for institutional sales.
Help the annual other periodic market strategies be fashioned.
Any other duties that will be allocated by the Head of Markets Sales from time to time.
Business development via visits/roadshows, phone, and email outreach to promote ABSA as the go-to bank for fixed income, derivatives, and forex needs of financial institutions.
Actively explore for and on-board new FI’s and pursue execution of ISDA and CSAs with bank counterparties
Look for possibilities for fixed-income deals in the secondary market working with clients as agreed upon.
Prospect and execute primary bond auction bids
Research, create, and follow up on a target list for potential new business.
Identify and offer structured products to this customer base

Accountability: Risk Management: 40%

Ensure personal compliance with all market risk requirements.
Ensure trades are booked into Front Arena and CDS systems timeously and accurately
Support the function and guarantee that the weekly primary auction bidding procedure is conducted appropriately
Offer structured products that are approved via NAPA process
Initiate NAPA for new products that are needed by clients in the market Ensure certain trades are approved by pre-deal committee at group level before execution
Ensure PFEs and Debt Financing Limits are approved before execution of trades

Education and Experience Required

Degree to honors level, post graduate qualification preferred
Basic-level ACI certification
A working knowledge of capital markets products
4 years banking experience, at least 1 of which should preferably have been in sales or trading in a Markets setting; effective sales and trading skills with solid track record
Sound comprehension of business analysis and market analysis
A working knowledge of capital markets derivatives products

Knowledge & Skills: (Maximum of 6)

Strong understanding of CIB business; in-depth knowledge of market products, services, and strategies; and middle office and back office operations.
Understanding of ABSA Bank of Tanzania strategies and aims
Good awareness of external commercial, legal and regulatory environment and influence
Knowledge of strategies and products of financial competitors in the market
Understanding of economic environment in Tanzania
Full awareness of the policies, practices and ethical issues underlying Markets Business

competences: (Maximum of 7 competences)

Excellent communication and sales techniques; also, capacity to control relationships
Capacity to engage and negotiate with very advanced counterparties
Good formulation of strategies and influencing abilities
Be capable of acting with your own initiative and making confident decisions.

Capacity to function in a dealing room; strong ethical and moral standards; always act professionally
