JOB TITLE: Head of Early Childhood Education (ECE) Teacher (Daycare, KG 1 and KG 2)

Company Synopsis:

Located in Tanzania, Silverleaf Academy is a network of private elementary and intermediate schools that offer a quality education to students from low- and moderate-income households at an affordable price. Silverleaf integrates a tech-supported and inclusive learning method by working with Tanzania's national curriculum. While fostering analytical thinking, teamwork, and entrepreneurial spirit, the school places an emphasis on the acquisition of foundational competencies such as reading, writing, and arithmetic. Giving kids a well-rounded education is Silverleaf's number one priority. Currently, the academy is working to expand its Usa River facility so that it can accommodate more than 1,000 students by January 2025.

Basic Functions:

Nursery, KG 1, and KG 2 students' academic and developmental progress is overseen by the Head of ECE. This position reports to the head teacher and is responsible for carrying out the curriculum, supervising the teaching staff, monitoring student achievement, and making sure that all students achieve the set goals. The head of ECE is also responsible for ensuring that students participate in extracurricular activities that contribute to their overall development and for fostering a positive relationship between the school and the home.

Building a School Community and Effective Teams
Assess the classroom teachers' work and provide comments on their strengths and areas for improvement for the daycare, kindergarten, and first grade programs.
Working in tandem with the principal to establish a robust method for evaluating student progress towards learning outcomes, create a comprehensive plan for the school's professional development each year, and provide weekly coaching and development opportunities for teammates.
Encourage a cooperative and supportive atmosphere among the daycare, kindergarten, and second-grade faculty and staff.
Plan and direct cultural events for the nursery, kindergarten, and first-grade classrooms.

Help the Nursery, KG 1, and KG 2 teams foster an environment of self-awareness where everyone is willing to take the time to reflect on their performance, offer constructive criticism, and work together to improve.
Nursery, kindergarten, and first and second grades should have academic, cultural, and technological walkthroughs and observations done every other week.

The Student's Perspective on Their Own Academic Progress, Personal Growth, Conduct, and Extracurricular Activities

Assist the principal in carrying out an annual strategy to improve the school's student experience.
Assist the principal in establishing a yearlong, quantifiable strategy to foster students' intellectual, social, and emotional growth through extracurricular activities.
Assisting the school manager and head teacher in establishing yearly and individual student goals for all academic indicators.
To guarantee that academic goals are being satisfied, it is necessary to attend weekly academic data sessions.
Nursery, KG 1, and KG 2 pupils who are having difficulty should participate in individualised intervention programs.
Provide Daycare, KG 1, and KG 2 with opportunities to improve their physical and emotional health through wellness activities.
Make sure that students have chances to lead, such as the Daycare, KG 1, and KG 2 student councils.
Make it a point to attend the Student Leaders meeting every other week to make sure that student opinions are driving development and decision-making.
Following the campus's regulations on child wellness and child protection and taking charge of the AAR when necessary for Daycare, KG 1, and KG 2.
Verify compliance with the child wellness policy and the child safety policy on a weekly basis at the Daycare, KG 1, and KG 2 locations.
Making sure that strategies for encouraging good conduct are put into place For Kindergarten and First Grade, we will be using Class Dojo to help with behaviour management. If there are any problems with behaviour, we will make sure to handle them or escalate them before the day is over.
Collaborate with the co-curricular coordinator and outside organisations to carry out planned extracurricular activities; monitor their progress towards learning outcomes; and reward participation based on factors such as interest, diversity, and engagement. Maintain a comprehensive athletic and club schedule.

Encourage involvement in extracurricular events.

Sustainability and Operations in Schools: Enrolment, Efficiency in Operations, and Funding
Collaborate with the head teacher to handle the day-to-day academic operations, such as creating lesson plans, determining when to administer tests, and keeping track of classroom materials.
Make sure that Daycare, KG 1, and KG 2 adhere to all policies and procedures for the safety of children and the prevention of accidents.

Parents, Members of the Community, Partner Organisations, and Stakeholders in Community Engagement
Help the principal establish a system whereby parents, community members, and business associates may provide consistent feedback.
Assist the principal in arranging frequent sessions between instructors and parents to review student work, establish objectives, and share information about their academic and behavioural achievements. Keep lines of communication open and constant with parents.

Requirements for Education and Work Experience:

A degree in education from a Tanzanian university or college approved by the government is required.
Proficiency: Three years of elementary or secondary school teaching required, with two of those years spent in a supervisory or administrative capacity (such as department head or grade coordinator).
The ability to lead and motivate educators to reach academic objectives is a demonstrated leadership quality.
Background in building curricula and educating educators.

Approach Focused on Students: Extensive experience in ECE-specific student evaluation, growth, and the creation of student-centered learning environments.
Engaging the Community: Proven track record of fostering partnerships with local communities and parents to promote student achievement.
Both English and Kiswahili are languages in which I am proficient.
