Duties and Accountability
In the ever-changing logistics industry in Africa, the General Manager (HR) will play a pivotal role as a strategic advisor to the CEO, boosting organizational efficiency, coordinating intricate cross-functional projects, and bolstering strategic expansion. For this post, the HR leads from each country of operation will report directly to you.
Major Duties
- Alignment of Organizations and Strategic Leadership
- Advising the CEO on strategic matters
- Create and execute all-encompassing human capital plans for your firm.
- Facilitate cross-departmental coordination of strategic efforts
- Develop practical strategies by turning broad goals into specific objectives.
- Maintain harmony between business goals and day-to-day operations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversee projects involving multiple departments within HR and IT
- Locate areas of inefficiency in company operations and put plans in motion to fix them.
- Create performance indicators and systems to monitor progress towards goals.
- Eliminate redundancies in company-wide decision-making and communication
Strategic Project Management
- Ensure the success of vital strategic projects aimed at expanding logistics across Africa
- Oversee the development and execution of critical HR programs
- Collaborate with several regional offices and operational teams
- Create all-encompassing frameworks for project management
- Keep tabs on the results and development of strategic projects and report on them.
Executive Support and Communication
- Develop and deliver presentations and reports to senior executives on HR-related topics.
- Coordinate the flow of information from upper management to their teams
- Serve as a vital resource center for upper-level management
- Take the helm in important meetings and brainstorming sessions with the CEO
Strategic HR Leadership
- Create HR plans that address all aspects of the business and help achieve its objectives.
- Assist upper management with long-term planning for human capital
- Develop methods for hiring, retaining, and promoting employees over the long term.
- Create and uphold a robust company culture
- Create and execute initiatives that help employees grow professionally and advance in their careers.
- Keep the company's employees happy and engaged
- Create, execute, and oversee systems for competitive pay and benefits
- Make plans for the growth and improvement of the company's learning process, and train both upper- and lower-level managers to become effective leaders.
Education, Skills & Qualifications
- MBA a plus Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, Logistics, or a closely related discipline
- A progressive leadership background spanning 8–12 years
- Proven track record of leading multicultural teams around the world
- Proven track record of leading a business unit in both corporate and entrepreneurial settings Profound background in business on the African continent
- Enthusiasm for making periodic trips to Africa
Hours of Operation: 7:20 AM to 4:20 PM Monday through Friday, and 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM on alternate Saturdays.
