About Company

Over 300 Tanzanian entrepreneurs, motivated by their moral and economic concern for the plight of millions of Tanzanians, initiated Akiba Commercial Bank Plc's banking operations in August 1997.

Strong convictions united these founding members in Akiba Commercial Bank Plc, providing a vehicle to reach and transform the lives of previously unbanked and commercially ill-equipped individuals across the country. The essence of the bank was to support the emergence of start-up Tanzanian businesses by providing financial services at all levels, as a Tanzanian-owned commercial bank that understood and committed to the people it aimed to serve. This was the original, very firm and deep-rooted mission of its founding members.
