We are on the lookout for a driven and knowledgeable candidate to join our team as a Senior Reporter-Mwananchi.
Position Overview
Working independently to get news is a big part of the job. So is travelling out on assignments. The individual in this role must adhere to journalistic standards, editorial goals, and house style while submitting factually sound, comprehensive, and thoroughly researched news articles that are meant for the general audience.
Key Responsibilities
- Conceive of, research, and compose the allocated title's news and feature stories without requiring a rewrite or a mountain of extra work.
As required, tape-record interviews, take notes on location, verify facts, and write news or features independently, using personal judgement or following the instructions of the news editor or section editor.
Completion of the copy requires research and the provision of background material.
Acquire new information by following leads and keeping in touch with news sources.
Submit your chosen stories for publication by the specified due date after briefing the news editor on your findings.
Consistently provide exclusive data or information to prove the worth of your contacts list, which you should always be building and maintaining.
Be responsible for the accuracy of the facts, content, and style of your news products and respond quickly as news breaks.
Assist photographers in capturing relevant images by working closely with them.
Work as directed or independently as needed to complete assigned tasks in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Academic Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in journalism or its equivalent from a recognised institution.
- Experience: 4-5 years of working experience in journalism.
Job Title: Creative Reporter – Mwananchi (1 Post)
Purpose:
For Mwananchi Newspaper, the creative reporter is tasked with producing captivating, original, and top-notch content. In order to succeed in this position, you need to have strong narrative abilities that can take your reporting to the next level by combining imagination, analysis, and multimedia to keep readers and viewers engaged.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
- Academic: Bachelor’s degree in journalism or its equivalent from a recognised institution.
- Experience: 4-5 years of working experience.
Main Responsibilities:
- Gather information, brainstorm ideas, and compose detailed reports, human interest articles, and feature stories.
Make the news more interesting by telling stories in unexpected ways.
To make your stories more engaging, use multimedia components like images, videos, and infographics.
To find compelling and original stories, you should interview people and look into relevant history.
In order to produce fresh and pertinent content, it's crucial to monitor emerging trends and novel topics.
Check facts and make sure everything is up to par with journalistic ethics and honesty.
Create original material for use on the internet, such as blog posts and social networking posts.
To guarantee strong interaction and audience reach, collaborate with the digital team.
Ensure visually appealing stories are created by collaborating closely with editors, photographers, and designers.
Participate in editing sessions and offer fresh suggestions for material.
Proofread and edit all stories to make sure they are up to Mwananchi's standards.
Create timely and impactful content while working under strict deadlines.
1. PROCUREMENT OFFICER (1 POST)
Purpose:
Back the MCL product courier plan and see it through to completion. Maximising sales revenue, ensuring sustainable business growth, and meeting established targets while maintaining excellent service standards are all part of the role's responsibilities in courier operations.
Main Responsibilities:
- Fast approval of LPOs and FPOs and issuance of intellectual property rights for goods and services must be ensured.
Verify with the customer again that the ordered goods and services were provided in accordance with their specifications.
Ensure that consumption, stock, and reorder levels are monitored.
Follow the established process for selling all materials, printed waste, returns, and other disposable assets.
Coordinate with relevant user departments to guarantee efficient and easy access to all office utilities.
Maintains tabs on all insurance-related activities to guarantee sufficient coverage, process claims, and keep records up-to-date.
Complete the yearly supplier review and provide your thoughts on how to make it better.
Oversee the relationships with suppliers.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Academic: A bachelor's degree in supply chain management or a closely related field from an accredited university.
Relevant job experience (at least three to five years) in an established company is required.
