Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGML) is the top gold producer in Tanzania, based in the Geita Region. GGML is part of AngloGold Ashanti, a global gold mining company headquartered in Denver, USA, with operations in over ten countries across four continents. Located in the Lake Victoria Goldfields, Northwestern Tanzania, the mine is about 120 km from Mwanza City and 20 km from Lake Victoria. The main office is in Geita, just 5 km from Geita town, with an additional office in Dar es Salaam.

Position: Technical Aid 2 – Ore Control

Purpose of the Role

To oversee and support efficient ore mining and movement processes, ensuring that only the correct ore materials reach the mill.

Qualifications

  • Ordinary Secondary Education or higher
  • Valid Tanzania Driving License

Experience

  • Four years of geology experience in a mining environment

Main Responsibilities

  • Ore Flagging: Mark ore perimeters with tape and rock paint according to the ore plan and map, maintaining production flow.
  • Ore Control: Manage ore mining in the active pit to reduce dilution and loss, ensuring ore is sent to the correct stockpiles.
  • Tallying and Recording: Accurately count and log all ore trucks from each ore perimeter using Tallies and Toughbook.
  • Ore Movement Tracking: Log all ore movements from the pit to ROM pads, providing precise data for reconciliation.
  • Support for Mine Geology Supervisor: Offer Direct Output Support (DOS) related to ore mining and dilution control.
  • Reconciliation Support: Help with reconciling ore mined and crushed by providing quality data and monitoring stockpile changes.
  • Coordination with Operators: Maintain clear communication with dispatch and HME operators to ensure proper ore handling.
  • Equipment Monitoring: Watch for oil leaks and move equipment out of ore zones if necessary to avoid contamination.
  • Loss and Dilution Prevention: Identify factors that could cause ore loss or dilution, making recommendations for process improvements.
  • Pre-Mining Checks: Ensure all required markups, like toe lines and batter pegs, are in place. Report any missing elements to the Survey team and your supervisor.
