Role Overview

This position is all about training and guiding local Jumbo operators. Your task is to help them drill different drive patterns using electric/hydraulic Jumbo drills that suit various ground conditions. As a Specialist, you’ll focus on passing down skills and knowledge to junior operators following a structured development plan.


Qualifications

  • Certification: Licensed or certified Jumbo Operator.
  • Preferred: Training Certificate or similar experience.

Required Experience

  • Jumbo Operator Experience: At least 10 years of hands-on experience.
  • Skills: Solid understanding of underground mining operations and Jumbo equipment.
  • Independence: Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Team Player: Proven ability to work within a team.
  • Safety: Strong commitment to safety and hazard awareness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transfer essential skills and knowledge to junior national Jumbo operators as per development plans.
  • Train and support new and existing operators and Offsiders, equipping them to work effectively in all underground conditions.
  • Review and update training plans for selected successors, providing regular progress reports.
  • Prepare bi-annual training reports detailing the progress of successors.
  • Guide junior operators to drill various patterns accurately, meeting specific design and survey standards.
  • Coach operators to assess ground conditions and apply ground control according to site needs.
  • Ensure operators can follow detailed mining instructions precisely, maintaining design specifications.
  • Foster communication with the training team, surveyors, geologists, and engineers as needed.
  • Guarantee safety for personnel and equipment by keeping work areas hazard-free, especially electrical installations.

  • Skill Transfer: Ability to facilitate on-the-job training and coaching.
  • Evaluation Skills: Knowledge of training evaluation and performance monitoring.
  • Work Ethics: Professional and respectful in all interactions.
  • First Aid: Basic first aid knowledge.
  • Communication: Proficient in English (written and oral).
  • Technical Skills: Strong hand-eye coordination.
  • Tech Familiarity: Understanding of remote monitoring systems (RMS).
