Job Purpose

We're looking for someone who can make sure all the factory instruments are working smoothly, accurately, and efficiently.


Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Respond to instrument issues: You'll handle calls about instrument problems during shifts.
  • Inspect and repair: Check, test, and fix electric, electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic instruments in the factory.
  • Watch for unusual readings: Keep an eye on meters, indicators, and gauges to spot anything unusual.
  • Fix and maintain instruments: Remove broken instruments, clean them, replace parts, and put them back together using hand tools.
  • Keep everything running smoothly: Lubricate instruments, fix wiring and tubing when needed.
  • Teamwork: Work closely with maintenance and operations teams.
  • Preventative maintenance: Carry out preventative checks on scheduled off days and during non-crop periods.
  • Log issues: Note down any problems in the logbook that happen during your shift.
  • Quality standards: Make sure everything is done according to the ISO 9001: 2000 Quality Management System at Kilombero Sugar to maintain quality standards.
  • Health and safety: Always follow Kilombero Sugar’s Quality, Safety, Health, and Environment policies. Take care of your own safety and look out for others. Cooperate with management to ensure everyone's safety.
  • Environmental commitment: Stick to the company’s Environmental Management System standards (ISO 14001).

Job Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Completed Form Four, NSI GR. II, VETA Grade I, or Level III in Electronics/Instrumentation/Electrical/Industrial Electronics & Communication, or similar fields.
  • Experience: At least 6 months working with instruments, including repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Skills you’ll need:
    • Effective communication
    • Understanding process and control systems
    • Basic measurement skills

Terms of Service

This is a Fixed Term contract.
