About TANROADS Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is in charge of maintaining and developing Tanzania Mainland’s Trunk and Regional Roads Network. It also manages Axle Load Control Operations using weighbridge scales.

Position Overview The Regional Manager of TANROADS Kilimanjaro, on behalf of the Chief Executive of TANROADS, is seeking qualified Tanzanian candidates for a Resident Engineer role. This position will support the Same-Kisiwani-Mkomazi (100.5 km) Road Upgrade Project, focusing on the Ndungu-Mkomazi Section (36 km) in Kilimanjaro Region.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Professional Engineer registration with ERB and a current practicing certificate.
  • A postgraduate degree in Civil Engineering is a plus.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in road and bridge construction, including design, supervision, and contract management under FIDIC Conditions.
  • Proven experience as a Resident Engineer or similar role in at least three road projects within the last 10 years.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the on-site team, handling both technical and administrative tasks.
  • Oversee the contractor's work on-site and handle force account operations.
  • Manage project work plans.
  • Ensure quality control throughout the project.
  • Administer project contracts effectively.
  • Prepare monthly project progress reports.
  • Handle contractor invoices and facilitate payments.
  • Attend site meetings, prepare minutes, and oversee communications.
  • Monitor social and environmental impact mitigation measures in consultation with TANROADS’ Environmental Specialist.
  • Maintain accurate records, including reports, diaries, correspondence, instructions, test records, measurements, payments, and other relevant documents related to the work and supervision contracts.
  • Carry out any other duties as directed by the Project Manager.

Terms of Service:

  • Employment Terms: 1-year contract
  • Salary: TANROADS salary scale, including site allowances as per TANROADS Incentive Policy.
