Job Overview
Sea Sense is looking for a Projects Assistant to help deliver conservation initiatives in Kilwa. If you’re passionate about marine conservation, community engagement, and making a difference, this role could be for you! You’ll work closely with the team, local communities, and stakeholders to achieve Sea Sense’s goals.
Key Responsibilities
Project Support
- Assist in running conservation projects that align with Sea Sense’s mission.
- Help with planning and logistics for meetings, workshops, and field activities.
- Coordinate tasks for new and ongoing projects to keep everything on track.
Community Engagement
- Support training programs for local communities and stakeholders to boost conservation efforts.
- Organize and assist in hosting conservation workshops and policy discussions.
Data Management
- Collect and analyze data from field activities to guide project planning.
- Contribute to project reports and other publications, including articles.
Budgeting and Reporting
- Prepare project budgets and ensure funds are used efficiently.
- Help draft financial and activity reports for donors and stakeholders.
Policy and Advocacy
- Turn conservation policies into practical projects that make a local impact.
- Work with partners to align Sea Sense’s projects with policy frameworks.
General Administration
- Handle administrative tasks like organizing meetings, preparing agendas, and documenting minutes.
- Assist the team with logistics and other duties to ensure smooth operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, Marine Biology, Project Management, or a related field.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working in field environments and engaging with community members.
- Familiarity with marine conservation, especially sea turtles, is a bonus.
- Fluent in English and Swahili.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic data analysis tools.
