Job Overview
The Professionalized Services Technician (PST) plays a crucial role in ensuring the long-term efficiency of rural water systems under Water Mission Tanzania’s Professionalized Services Department. Based in Kasulu, this role involves overseeing system operations, maintenance, and repairs while meeting Water Mission standards. You’ll work closely with the Professionalized Services Officer and report to the Professionalized Services Manager. The role also requires travel to project sites to assess and sustain water system performance.

Responsibilities
Mission-Driven Duties:

Key Responsibilities:
- Assess current WASH services, focusing on Rural Water Committees (RWC), and suggest improvements.
- Manage daily operations and maintenance of rural water systems, keeping everything running smoothly.
- Carry out technical repairs and preventive maintenance to minimize system downtimes.
- Train water system operators on troubleshooting and maintenance best practices.
- Conduct skill assessments and offer refresher training to enhance operator efficiency.
- Offer technical guidance to partners like RUWASA, and engage with local communities and government agencies.
- Help plan and review water service extension projects, ensuring they meet Water Mission standards.
- Support new service models, including private operator initiatives under RUWASA guidelines.
- Track and report on project data, including financial performance, water quality, and overall system efficiency, ensuring compliance with regulatory and funding standards.
- Collect data on system performance and use insights to improve operations.
- Stay updated on new water management technologies and practices, suggesting process upgrades when needed.
Other duties may be assigned as required.
Requirements
Faith & Alignment:
- Agreement with Water Mission’s Statement of Faith and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Commitment to Water Mission’s mission and values.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Management, or a similar field.
- At least 4 years of experience in the WASH sector, with a strong background in water system operations, engineering design, and community water management.
- Proven experience working on WASH projects in dynamic environments.
Skills Needed:
- Expertise in water system design, repair, and evaluation.
- Solid background in collaborating with NGOs, government bodies, and community organizations like RUWASA.
- Competent in data analysis, performance monitoring, and reporting, with experience in digital tools.
- Excellent communication skills in both English and Swahili.
- Problem-solving mindset, adaptable to new technologies and committed to innovative WASH solutions.
- Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other basic software.
- Ability to drive.
