What’s the Role?

Position: Professionalized Services Officer (PSO)

You’ll work in Dodoma, supporting the rollout of professionalized water services. Partnering with the Professionalized Services Technician and Regional Manager, your role involves regular travel to project sites. Success will be measured by how sustainable our water projects are, how well they achieve impact goals, and the return on investment (ROI).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mission Focus:

    • Uphold a Christian witness and demonstrate servant leadership.
    • Engage in prayer and participate in Bible-based devotionals.
  • Main Duties:

    • Assess current WASH services and identify areas for improvement.
    • Implement strategies to boost system uptime and meet carbon credit reporting.
    • Ensure smooth communication between Water Mission staff and community water committees.
    • Help set up and run the Assetas management system for optimal use.
    • Develop innovative service models suitable for the country’s needs.
    • Work on policies for efficient water utility management.
    • Lead or join training programs to build skills in utility management.
    • Monitor performance indicators, refine strategies, and support revenue generation.
    • Document project outcomes, lessons learned, and best practices for stakeholders.
    • Build partnerships with government bodies like the Ministry of Water and RUWASA, NGOs, and other key players.
    • Support and train operators and specialized staff focused on professionalized services.
    • Handle other tasks as needed.

Requirements:

  • Alignment & Faith:
    • Be aligned with Water Mission’s Statement of Faith and have a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in fields like Civil or Environmental Engineering, Water Resources, Community Development, or similar.
  • Experience:
    • At least 4 years in the WASH sector, with a proven history of project support in challenging settings.
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical abilities for understanding market trends and project data.
    • Great communication in both English and Swahili, with solid negotiation skills.
    • Passionate about sustainable and innovative WASH initiatives.
    • Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and similar tools.
    • Must be able to drive.
