Ready to be part of a dynamic team? As a Procurement Officer at Dark Earth Carbon, you’ll handle everything from sourcing to buying goods and services to keep our operations running smoothly. You'll assess suppliers, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely deliveries, all while keeping an eye on costs and inventory to maximize savings and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Source and Purchase: Identify and acquire the necessary goods and services.
  • Supplier Evaluation and Negotiation: Assess suppliers, negotiate prices, and secure contracts that fit our budget and quality standards.
  • Timely Deliveries: Make sure goods and services arrive on time to meet project needs.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all purchases and contracts.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, flag shortages, and suggest budget-friendly purchasing solutions.
  • Collaboration: Work with different departments to understand their needs and develop a purchasing strategy that aligns with company goals.
  • Market Awareness: Stay updated on market trends, pricing shifts, and new suppliers.
  • Additional Duties: Take on extra tasks as assigned by your manager.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience: 1-2 years in procurement or a similar role. Experience in biochar or agriculture is a plus.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication abilities and the confidence to lead training sessions.
  • Analytical Skills: Sharp attention to detail, especially when evaluating suppliers, contracts, and inventory data.
  • Self-Motivation: Ability to make informed decisions independently.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluent in both Swahili and English.
