Corus is hiring a Procurement & Administrative Assistant for a five-year USDA project aimed at transforming small and medium-sized poultry businesses in Tanzania. This project focuses on sustainable solutions like climate-smart technology, animal health improvements, and agricultural finance. The role is based in Mbeya, Tanzania.

Position Overview

The Procurement & Administrative Assistant will report to the Director of Finance and Administration and work closely with the Grants and Compliance team. This role is key in handling administrative and procurement tasks while ensuring smooth office operations.


Key Responsibilities

Administrative Tasks

  • Handle daily administrative duties following organizational standards and tools.
  • Assist the program team in organizing workshops, seminars, and meetings.
  • Keep administrative records, including travel clearances, itineraries, and visa requests.
  • Arrange travel, accommodation, and communication logistics for project staff.
  • Manage office security and monitor project assets with the help of security personnel.
  • Oversee local insurance contracts for office property and equipment.

Procurement Tasks

  • Review procurement needs, prepare plans, and initiate purchasing processes.
  • Help prepare tender documents for requests like RFQs and RFPs.
  • Assist with tender evaluations and ensure goods meet quality and contract terms.
  • Support procurement for technical needs and office requirements, including drafting documents and tracking inventory.
  • Maintain organized procurement records to ensure compliance with USDA and LWR policies.
  • Monitor subcontracts and vendor agreements, providing updates to relevant staff.
  • Upload procurement documents to shared platforms like SharePoint.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 2 years in procurement for donor-funded projects, preferably in Tanzania.
  • Skills:
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; Swahili is a plus.
    • Time management, self-discipline, and attention to detail.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
    • Ability to adapt and develop new systems and tools.
    • Professional demeanor with colleagues and external stakeholders.
