- Role: Principal Officer I - Agribusiness (Senior Manager Agribusiness)
- Department: Retail and SME Banking
- Reports to: Director of Retail and SME Banking
- Location: Dar es Salaam

Position Objective
This role is all about driving growth in agribusiness by expanding our services to Agri-Smallholder Farmers. You’ll work on growing our asset portfolio, attracting deposits, and building relationships with farmers and partners. You'll also team up with other departments and branches to support agri-smallholder farmer initiatives and engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify Growth Opportunities: Scout out new ways to expand our reach in the agricultural sector by introducing fresh, effective financial products tailored for agribusiness.
- Manage Partnerships: Keep strong connections with agri-partners and ensure all funding is used as agreed to maintain lasting partnerships.
- Drive Sales & Growth: Lead efforts to grow our agribusiness assets, income, and client base, collaborating closely with Relationship Managers and branch teams.
- Evaluate Credit Applications: Review and provide feedback on agribusiness loan proposals from branches, ensuring quality approvals.
- Portfolio Management: Oversee the agribusiness portfolio, aiming to reduce risks and keep non-performing loans at acceptable levels.
- Build Team Capacity: Support and coach Relationship Managers and Officers to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Customer Engagement: Plan and organize events to strengthen connections with agri-business clients, including Agri-executive networks.
- Product Development: Work with the Product Development team to keep our offerings competitive, ensuring fair pricing and market relevance.
- Track Performance: Regularly report on agribusiness portfolio progress to keep stakeholders informed.
- Additional Duties: Complete any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Banking, Economics, Business, Finance, Agricultural Science, or related fields.
- Experience: Minimum 6 years in banking or finance, with at least 2 years focused on agribusiness.
- Agribusiness Knowledge: Familiarity with the agricultural value chains (crops, livestock, fishing, forestry) and their financial needs.
- Banking Insight: Strong knowledge of Tanzania's financial markets and banking operations.
- Customer & Product Knowledge: Proven understanding of banking products for agri-SMEs, along with cross-selling skills.
- Communication Skills: Strong ability to communicate, analyze data, write reports, and present effectively.
- Tech Savvy: Proficient in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
- Problem Solver: Ability to handle tasks efficiently, even under pressure.
