Job Summary
The Operations Manager will manage financial, administrative, and operational functions at Isamilo International School – Mwanza (IISM). This position plays a big role in strategic planning, ensuring financial stability, and leading teams in accounting, budgeting, HR, procurement, and office management. Working closely with the Head of School and the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), this role ensures resources are used effectively to meet the school's goals. Strong business management skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning and Marketing
- Help shape the school’s strategic plan with business insights and recommendations.
- Participate in long-term planning for school sustainability and growth.
- Identify and address organizational risks.
Administration and Operations
- Oversee procurement, office management, and IT.
- Manage administrative staff to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Develop and enforce policies to improve efficiency and ensure compliance.
- Handle contracts, leases, and vendor agreements.
Human Resources Management
- Manage all HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, and performance management.
- Keep employee policies up-to-date and aligned with school goals.
- Foster a positive work culture focusing on staff well-being and retention.
- Lead training initiatives in financial and operational management.
Stakeholder Relations
- Build relationships with stakeholders, meeting donor requirements and reporting deadlines.
- Collaborate with school teams to align objectives.
- Act as the primary point of contact for financial and administrative matters with external parties, such as government agencies and auditors.
Financial Management
- Oversee accounting, budgeting, reporting, and financial forecasting.
- Create financial strategies and policies to maintain fiscal health and compliance.
- Present financial reports to senior management and stakeholders.
- Manage cash flow, investments, and banking relationships.
- Lead the annual budget process to align with the school's goals.
- Ensure compliance with financial laws and manage external audits.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education
- Background in business management or administration is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university; a master’s degree is an added bonus.
Experience
- At least 10 years in business management, with 5+ years in a leadership role overseeing operations.
- Experience in international or profit-focused business is beneficial.
Skills
- Strong understanding of finance, accounting, and HR practices.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
