Contract-Based Employment at Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE)


1. About Tanzania Institute of Education

The Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE) operates under the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology. Established by Act No. 13 of 1975 (CAP 142 RE 2002), TIE’s mission is to develop educational policies into well-suited curricula, support materials, and programs that support high-quality education at all levels: Pre-primary, Primary, Secondary, and Teacher Education. TIE’s main functions include:

  • Creating and revising curricula for Pre-primary, Primary, Secondary, and Teacher Education.
  • Producing supporting materials like textbooks, syllabi, and guides for teachers.
  • Providing in-service training for teachers to help them implement the curriculum effectively.
  • Conducting research on teaching methods and education quality.

2. Available Positions and Qualifications

2.1 Marketing Officer II: 6 Positions

Requirements: Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Business Administration/Commerce (with a focus on Marketing), or an equivalent field from a recognized institution.

Key Duties:

  • Promote and market TIE products to boost visibility.
  • Identify potential clients and target them effectively.
  • Manage the sales of TIE products.
  • Provide detailed product information to customers.
  • Prepare and offer accurate price quotes.
  • Ensure transactions are conducted only with creditworthy clients.
  • Track customer payments for prompt collection.
  • Collect feedback on products with low market performance and recommend improvements.
  • Handle any other related tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Salary: TIE provides a competitive pay package according to the TIE Scheme of Service (PGSS 6.1).


3. General Requirements for Applicants

To qualify, candidates must:

  • Be a Tanzanian Citizen.
  • Include an updated CV with current contact details (postal code, email, phone number).
  • Attach certified copies of:
    • Relevant certificates (Degree/Advanced Diploma/Form IV and Form VI National Exam Certificates).
    • Professional Registration and Training Certificates (if needed).
    • Birth certificate and NIDA.
  • Include a recent passport-size photo.
  • List three reputable referees with their contact details.

Important Notes:

  • Certificates from foreign examination bodies (Ordinary/Advanced levels) need verification by NECTA.
  • Foreign university and training certificates must be verified by TCU and/or NACTE.
  • Form IV/Form VI results slips, testimonials, and partial transcripts will not be accepted.
