Program Background
The Wezesha Binti program, aimed at youth aged 14 to 29 (with a focus on girls and young women), is working to improve education, employment, and entrepreneurship in Kigoma, one of Tanzania’s underserved regions. This initiative is enhancing digital access in Kigoma schools by supporting teacher training, developing digital materials, and providing students with a variety of online learning resources. Partnerships with groups such as the Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE) and local NGOs are essential to the program’s success.
Job Overview
As a Junior Expert (JE), you will assist in guiding teachers and students in digital skills development at lower secondary schools in Kigoma. This involves setting up Innovation Hubs in three Teacher Resource Centres and one Teacher Training College. You’ll play a hands-on role, helping educators integrate digital tools into their teaching and promoting innovative practices in classrooms.
Key Responsibilities
Setting Up Innovation Hubs
- Establish and maintain four Innovation Hubs in selected Kigoma resource centers.
- Organize and oversee training for “teacher champions” in digital education practices.
- Conduct community learning events for teachers to exchange ideas and support each other.
- Gather and use feedback from educators to make improvements in the hubs.
Mentorship and Facilitation
- Guide educators in using digital tools and collaborative methods to enhance digital learning.
- Coordinate workshops on innovative teaching and offer personalized mentoring.
- Assist in choosing effective digital tools like Digital Mobile Toolkits.
- Encourage collaboration within and beyond the Innovation Hubs to build a digital learning community.
Knowledge Sharing
- Document and share lessons learned about using digital tools in education.
- Contribute to Enabel’s communications with blog posts and other updates.
- Collaborate with Enabel colleagues and partners to expand the knowledge base.
Collaboration with Local Partners
- Work with regional education offices, teachers, and operational partners on digital learning initiatives.
- Lead parts of workshops and prepare teaching plans that support digital education.

- Experience: Maximum of 2 years in a professional role
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, ICT, Psychology, Sociology, Development Studies, or related fields.
- Experience in tech-assisted teaching (minimum 3 years for certain fields).
- Familiarity with innovation tools like design thinking.
- Basic knowledge of digital technology (e.g., mobile apps, AI).

- Skills in multimedia content creation.
- Research experience (qualitative/quantitative).
- Understanding of gender barriers in education.
- Ability to work collaboratively.
- Knowledge of the Kigoma region.
