Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) manages and maintains the national Trunk and Regional Roads Network across Tanzania Mainland. They also oversee Axle Load Control Operations using weighbridge scales to ensure road safety and compliance.

The TANROADS Kilimanjaro Regional Manager, representing the Chief Executive, is hiring qualified Tanzanians for the Highway Engineer role for the Same-Kisiwani-Mkomazi Road Upgrading Project (100.5 km) on the Ndungu-Mkomazi Section (36 km).

Job Title: Highway Engineer – 1 Position

Key Qualifications:

  • Nationality: Tanzanian
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a recognized equivalent.
  • Professional Registration: Must be registered with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) and have a valid practicing license.
  • Additional Skills: A postgraduate qualification in Highway Engineering is a plus.
  • Experience: At least 7 years in road construction, design, or supervision. Must have served as a Highway Engineer or in a similar role on at least two major road and bridge projects in the past decade.
  • Languages: Fluent in both written and spoken Swahili and English.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contract Supervision: Ensure all project activities meet contract standards and specifications.
  • Design Review: Evaluate existing designs, spot any issues, and provide guidance during construction.
  • Geometric Design Control: Oversee geometric design in line with site conditions and best practices.
  • Quality Inspection: Inspect completed work to confirm it meets technical standards.
  • Scheduling: Create control charts and a master project schedule to monitor progress and forecast completion times.
  • Work Quantification: Measure completed work to ensure accuracy.
  • Progress Reporting: Compile and submit detailed progress reports with updated costs to the Resident Engineer.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties assigned by the Project Manager.

Employment Terms:

  • Contract Length: 1-year specified contract.
  • Salary: TANROADS scale with additional site allowances as per TANROADS Incentive Policy.
