1.0 Overview
The Tanzania Coffee Board, a government agency established by the Tanzania Coffee Industry Act No. 23 of 2001 and the Miscellaneous Amendments Act of 2009, is looking for a qualified General Manager to lead Mbozi Coffee Curing Company Limited. If you’re a skilled and experienced Tanzanian with a passion for coffee management, this might be the role for you!
1.1 Qualifications and Experience
To apply, you’ll need:
- A Master’s degree in Processing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Economics, Law, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A minimum of 10 years in senior management, with at least 4 years of experience specifically in coffee management.
1.2 Duties and Responsibilities
As the General Manager, you’ll take on these key responsibilities:
- Leadership: Manage, plan, and coordinate all company activities effectively.
- Development Oversight: Plan and drive company development projects.
- Policy Guidance: Develop and propose policies for the Board, focusing on both physical and financial functions.
- Policy Execution: Interpret Board policies and implement them through internal regulations.
- Budget Planning: Prepare the company’s annual budget and submit it to the Board.
- Performance Monitoring: Regularly compare actual performance to plans and budgets, recommending actions as needed.
- Staff Management: Set up HR policies, delegate tasks to subordinates, and ensure optimal staffing levels.
- Compliance: Make sure all company operations comply with local laws and regulations.
- Industry Relations: Foster connections with coffee industry stakeholders.
- Decision Making: Act as the ultimate authority on management decisions within the company.
- Financial Management: Protect the company’s financial health by ensuring all transactions follow internal control procedures.
- Accounting: Ensure timely preparation and submission of company accounts to external auditors.
- Stakeholder Relations: Build positive relationships with customers, coffee cooperative unions, and other key stakeholders.
- Board Duties: Serve as Secretary to the Board of Directors, coordinating all meetings.
- Additional Duties: Carry out any other tasks as assigned by the Board.
1.3 Terms of Service
This is a three-year contract position, renewable based on performance.
