The Finance Assistant at Water Mission Tanzania is responsible for ensuring all tasks are completed with accuracy and excellence. The role aligns with Water Mission’s mission of sharing the Living Water through words and actions, while maintaining high standards in financial management.

General Duties
Mission-Driven Responsibilities:
- Lead with a strong Christian example: Be a role model for servant leadership, engaging with colleagues, partners, and the communities we serve.
- Prayer and Devotions: Participate in prayer at team meetings and lead/attend staff devotions based on biblical teachings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accuracy & Integrity: Ensure that financial processes and controls are in place for reliable information management.
- Documentation: Ensure all payments (to staff and vendors) are properly documented before issuing.
- Audit Preparation: Assist in preparing documents for internal and external audits.
- Filing: Keep financial documents organized and filed systematically.
- Financial Reporting: Help prepare financial reports in line with accounting standards.
- Reconciliations: Reconcile accounts payable, staff cash advances, and floats to ensure proper fund management.
- Tax Compliance: Ensure withholding payments are made to the Tanzania Revenue Authority on time.
- Asset & Inventory Management: Update and maintain asset registers and organization inventory in NetSuite.
- Bank Reconciliation: Analyze and reconcile bank statements with the general ledger.
- Petty Cash: Manage petty cash, ensuring weekly certificates are prepared after cash counts.
- Expense Reporting: Review employee-submitted expenses and record travel advances accurately in the accounting system.
- Transaction Posting: Post approved transactions in the accounting system in a timely manner.
- Support Region Offices: Assist regional offices with accounting matters.
- Payments Review: Review incoming and outgoing payments to ensure accuracy.
- Month-End & Year-End: Assist the Finance Manager with the monthly/yearly financial closure process.
Other tasks may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
Relationship & Alignment:
- Strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Alignment with Water Mission’s Statement of Faith and core values of Love, Excellence, and Integrity.
Education & Experience:
- A university degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Solid knowledge of accounting and financial management principles, including GAAP and IPSAS standards.
- At least one year of financial management experience.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint) and accounting systems.
Skills and Abilities:

- Audit Knowledge: Understand audit requirements and documentation procedures to ensure compliance.

- Authorization: Must be authorized to work in Tanzania without sponsorship.
