About the Role

Are you an experienced accountant looking for a new challenge? Tanzania Portland Cement PLC is seeking a Financial Accountant to join our Dar es Salaam team. With a focus on financial reporting, month-end closing, IFRS compliance, and ad-hoc reporting, this role is perfect for someone who enjoys detailed financial analysis and compliance work.


Key Responsibilities

1. Month-End Closing & Reporting

  • Accruals and Prepayments: Handle accruals, provisions, and prepayments with accuracy.
  • Trial Balance Reconciliation: Reconcile all Trial Balance items monthly, making sure balance sheet items are backed by accurate schedules.
  • Documentation: Ensure schedules align with the Trial Balance and store them in MS Teams and File Server.
  • Monthly Closing Management: Keep the closing schedule up-to-date, reviewed, and signed off.
  • Group Reporting: Handle monthly Group reporting, including actuals, forecasts, and budget summaries. This includes preparing and sharing the Contribution report and handling COMET reporting (Main, Disclosure, and KPI).

2. Presentations & Ad-Hoc Reporting

  • Support in creating presentations for Monthly Business Updates, Quarterly Management Meetings, and other important presentations.
  • Carry out various financial and ad-hoc analyses as requested.

3. IFRS Compliance & Updates

  • Stay fully compliant with IFRS standards by maintaining schedules, reviewing updates, and performing needed computations.

4. Financial Reporting

  • Quarterly Reports: Prepare income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for DSE reporting and newspaper publication.
  • Annual Report: Contribute to the preparation of the Annual Report and financial statements.

5. Additional Responsibilities & Compliance

  • CAPEX Evaluations: Conduct CAPEX investment assessments when needed.
  • Statutory Reporting: Handle statutory reporting as required.
  • Code Compliance: Ensure compliance with the HC Group Code of Business Conduct.

Key Qualifications

  • Education: CPA or equivalent certification; a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience in accounting.
  • Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, along with strong communication and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge: Solid understanding of International Accounting Standards.
