About the Location: Central Serengeti Lodge

Join us in one of the world’s top wildlife destinations, home to the Big Five – lions, leopards, buffalo, elephants, and rhinos – in the vast, open landscapes of Central Serengeti. Our Lodge, perched on elevated platforms by a watering hole, offers an incredible view of elephants stopping for a morning drink. Just a 45-minute drive from the Seronera Airstrip, our Lodge is easily accessible by flights from three main airports in Tanzania. Opened in December 2012, this serene lodge includes 77 rooms, 12 suites, and 5 villas. Guests can enjoy unique dining experiences, a Discovery Centre to learn about the Serengeti’s wildlife and culture, a Kijana Kids Club, a spa, a fitness center, and a dedicated team ready to make safari dreams come true.


Job Overview: Engineering Manager

As the Engineering Manager, you’ll handle all aspects of lodge and building maintenance—electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire safety, carpentry, and water treatment systems. Your goal is to address inquiries and resolve issues efficiently and professionally, ensuring top-notch guest and employee satisfaction. You’ll also make sure all work follows Four Seasons’ standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Support in hiring, training, and evaluating maintenance staff. Oversee their daily tasks to ensure quality work and adherence to standards.
  • Work Orders: Manage and follow up on work requests, ensuring smooth operations.
  • Supplies & Purchases: Prepare purchase requisitions, collaborate with purchasing teams, and manage stock items.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Implement schedules and policies to maintain efficiency.
  • Utility Tracking: Monitor daily readings for electricity and water to control usage and cut down waste.
  • Inventory Logs: Keep logs for stock movement, tools, and item distribution.
  • Budget Awareness: Understand engineering budgets and forecasts, timing projects to match budget limits.
  • Emergency Readiness: Ensure fire safety equipment is well-maintained, and emergency procedures are clear to all staff.
  • Professional Collaboration: Maintain good relationships with contractors and service providers to ensure reliable 24/7 support.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Green & Safety Committees: Actively support eco-friendly initiatives and safety programs.
  • Support Safety & Loss Prevention: Step in as needed in the Director of Engineering’s absence.
  • Energy Conservation: Help the Lodge reach annual budget goals with energy-saving practices.
  • Emergency Contacts: Keep in touch with TANAPA and essential service providers for water treatment, fire panels, and CCTV systems.
  • Health & Safety: Familiarize yourself with the Four Seasons "Lead with Care" program and attend mandatory training.
  • Other Duties: As assigned by management.

Required Knowledge & Skills

  • Education: Degree in Mechanics or similar experience, plus relevant trade school (e.g., refrigeration).
  • Experience: At least five years in a similar role with Four Seasons or a similar organization.
  • Technical Skills: Hands-on knowledge of building maintenance, computer operations, blueprints, and wiring. Must hold a current Operating Engineer license.
  • Language: Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
