Key Responsibilities
Major Duties
Drive WVT Project Vehicles
- Ensure passengers and goods arrive safely and on time.
- Keep trips accident-free, maintaining a safe and careful driving record.
Vehicle Maintenance
- Regularly check the vehicle's condition, including before and after each use.
- Schedule timely service to keep the vehicle in good shape and roadworthy.
Support Project Operations
- Assist in delivering documents and materials quickly and legally between WVT and partners.
- Help staff with smooth transportation support as needed.
Logbook Maintenance
- Record all authorized mileage, noting each trip and refuel in the logbook.
- Keep accurate mileage logs to match fuel usage and maintenance needs.
Document and Equipment Safety
- Ensure all essential documents, like insurance, road safety stickers, and toolkits, are up-to-date and safely stored.
- Replace any expired safety equipment, like first aid kits or fire extinguishers.
Child Protection Forms for Visitors
- Explain the need for signing child protection forms to all visitors upon pick-up.
- Ensure all forms are signed promptly.
Safe Load Management
- Avoid overloading to help extend tire life and follow traffic regulations.
Report Vehicle Issues
- Inform the Senior Transport Officer of any vehicle issues to keep it roadworthy.
- Advise on service needs and follow the maintenance schedule for preventive care.
Follow Vehicle Policies
- Only pick up authorized passengers and park the vehicle according to policy.
- Avoid speeding to keep everyone safe.
Other Assigned Tasks
- Offer reliable support for any additional tasks assigned by management.
Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum of three years as a professional driver with a clean driving record.
- Familiar with vehicle parts to diagnose basic issues.
- Experienced in long-distance driving.
- Good communication skills, both in Kiswahili and English.
- Reliable and able to work with diverse people and cultures.
- Willing to work outside normal hours when needed.
Certification
- Valid class C (C1, C2, C3) driving license.
- Form Four education with an Advanced Driving Certificate from NIT or VETA.
Work Environment
- Based in an office but with regular travel to field sites.
Physical Requirements
- Must be physically fit and mentally sharp.
Languages
- Fluent in Kiswahili and English.
