Founded in 1981, Mkuki Na Nyota Publishers Ltd (MNP) is a well-established book publishing company. We’re on the hunt for a passionate Communications & Marketing Officer to join our team. This person will be a key player in shaping and promoting our brand through various communication and marketing activities. You'll be collaborating with both our internal teams (like Business Development, Digital Marketing, Sales, Editorial, and Production) and external stakeholders to ensure our campaigns are effective and timely.

Role Purpose

Your mission will be to create and deliver high-quality content across our platforms, driving engagement with members, partners, and stakeholders. You’ll work closely with management to make sure all marketing activities hit the mark.


What We’re Looking For

  • Education: MA in public relations, communications, marketing, or a similar field.
  • Experience: At least 3 years in a related role.
  • Skills:
    • Strong writing skills in both English and Kiswahili.
    • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
    • A self-starter who can manage tasks independently but also works well with a team.
    • Experience in marketing or communications is a must.
    • A knack for writing clear, engaging, and audience-specific content.
    • Solid digital skills, especially with content management systems and social media.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bonus Skills: Web design and content production.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Communication Planning: Create and execute plans to boost public awareness, like marketing emails, newsletters, and event descriptions.
  2. Content Creation: Write press releases, website copy, newsletters, and more to promote our brand.
  3. Public & Media Engagement: Handle inquiries from the public, partners, and media.
  4. Brand Management: Manage our company image and reputation across websites, social media, and the press.
  5. Market Research: Analyze our audience to better understand their needs.
  6. PR Strategies: Work with management to develop and implement public relations strategies.
  7. Brand Consistency: Ensure our brand’s voice is consistent across all platforms and materials.
  8. Proofreading: Double-check all communications and marketing materials.
  9. Performance Analytics: Track and report the effectiveness of campaigns using data.
  10. Media Monitoring: Keep tabs on our media coverage and report back.
  11. Reporting Support: Assist in creating reports for external audiences.
