Government Notice No. 453 of 2015 established the Benjamin Mkapa Hospital, which opened its doors on October 13, 2015, after the government gazetted it on October 16, 2015. Driven by the goal of 4th term President of the United Republic of Tanzania Dr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete to have a hi-tech, modern diagnostic treatment centre in Tanzania by 2015, aiming at lowering the government burden resulting from referring patients abroad, the establishment of this hospital reflects his intention.

Available specialities include: NeurophysicianGeneral PhysicianPulmonologistMicrobiologistAnaesthesiologistEmergency Medicine PhysicianDermatologistNeurosurgeonPaediatricianQualifications: Master of Medicine (M.Med.) in one of the listed fields and a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.). Registered with the Medical Council of Tanganyika. These positions require experts to provide specialised services for inpatients and outpatients, supervise ward rounds, and contribute to medical research and training.
Radiologist (1 Post):
Qualifications: Master’s degree in radiography, medical imaging, or related fields. Performing a variety of imaging exams, maintaining equipment, and upholding the highest standards of diagnostic imaging are all part of this role.
Public Health Specialists/Epidemiologists (2 Posts):
Qualifications: Master’s in public health, epidemiology, or a related field. The role involves conducting research, developing hospital research policies, and managing public health projects.
General Medical and Nursing Positions
Medical Officers II (5 Posts):
Qualifications: Doctor of Medicine degree, completion of internship, and registration with the Medical Council of Tanganyika. These medical officers will be responsible for attending to inpatients and outpatients, performing minor surgeries, assisting in major surgeries, and managing patient care.
Nurse II (5 Posts):
Qualifications: Certificate (NTA Level 5) in Nursing or Midwifery. We will expect nurses to deliver quality nursing care, administer medications, and counsel patients.
Nurse Officers II (2 Posts):
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in nursing or midwifery. Nurse officers will play a leadership role in nursing care delivery and patient education.
Assistant Nursing Officers II (30 Posts):

Qualifications: Trade Test Level II in Civil Engineering. These technicians will be involved in building maintenance and repair projects within the hospital.
Architect II (1 Post):
