Location: Tanga-Back Office with frequent travel to EACOP sites (Initial period expected at Dar es Salaam office).

Job Type: Full-time, Monday to Friday with regular duty weeks.

Reports to: Head of Maintenance and Inspection, and Operation Director.

About EACOP: The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project is a 1,443 km pipeline running from Kabaale in Uganda to the Chongoleani Peninsula near Tanga Port in Tanzania. Around 80% of this pipeline is within Tanzania. EACOP involves both Uganda and Tanzania, with a focus on transporting oil from Kabaale to Tanga for export.

Job Overview

As a Telecommunication Engineer, you’ll report to the Head of Maintenance and Inspection, managing and maintaining communication systems across all EACOP sites. The role involves frequent travel to remote locations.

Key Equipment Includes:

  • Marine (VHF) Radios and Marine Telecom systems like Berthing Aids.
  • Public Address & General Alarm Systems (PAGA).
  • Fiber Optic Communication Network Systems and Ethernet.
  • Various telecommunication devices including CCTV, LAN, WAN, VSAT, UHF, routers, switches, and more.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on telecommunication systems to keep them running efficiently.
  • Troubleshoot, modify, and update systems when necessary.
  • Configure and manage network devices like routers and switches to optimize performance.
  • Work on RFQ and technical bid evaluations, ensuring quality communication solutions.
  • Collaborate with vendors to maintain and improve critical telecom systems.
  • Assist in the development of new telecommunication systems and standards.
  • Ensure safety and compliance with both company and industry standards, including telecom diagnostics and backup systems.
  • Prepare reports on maintenance activities and help draft documents for outsourcing services or procuring goods.

Qualifications:

  • BSc in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in English (both written and spoken).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in telecommunications, preferably in the Oil & Gas sector.
  • Familiarity with systems like CCTV, access control, and intrusion detection.
