Who We Are
The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project is a key development spanning Uganda and Tanzania. It features a Marine Storage and Export Terminal (MST) and will operate a 1,443 km, electrically heated crude oil pipeline, transporting oil from Kabaale-Hoima, Uganda to the Chongoleani Peninsula, Tanga, Tanzania, for export to international markets.
Job Overview
As a Telecommunications Engineer, you’ll report to the Head of Maintenance and Inspection and be responsible for managing telecom equipment across all EACOP sites. Frequent travel to remote locations is part of the job.
Telecommunication Systems You’ll Work With:
- Marine Radios (VHF) and Telecom systems (Berthing Aids)
- Public Address & General Alarm Systems (PAGA)
- Fiber Optic Networks and Ethernet Systems
- CCTV, PABX, LAN, WAN, VSAT, UHF, VHF, Microwave, Routers, Switches, IDS, and other telecommunication hardware
Responsibilities
- Ensure maintenance and smooth functioning of telecommunications systems.
- Configure routers, switches, and hubs for the network.
- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance for telecom equipment.
- Monitor network performance, troubleshoot, and fix any issues.
- Oversee telecom system modifications and make necessary updates.
- Prepare and review RFQs and ITB documents for telecom-related projects.
- Liaise with vendors to maintain critical systems and ensure quality service.
- Work closely with ICT and Instrumentation teams during telecom-related interventions.
- Ensure compliance with safety and industry standards during maintenance activities.
- Assist in diagnosing software and hardware issues, ensuring timely repairs.
- Maintain telecom system recovery plans and regularly test them.
- Manage contractors involved in the maintenance and inspection of telecom systems.
- Ensure safe work practices around plant and pipeline facilities.
- Prepare and submit necessary forms for radio frequencies and licenses in accordance with local regulations.

Qualifications
- Education: BSc in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Control Engineering, or Computer Science & ICT from a recognized institution.
- Experience: At least 5 years in the Oil & Gas industry or in a Telecommunications Engineer role.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Strong oral and written English skills
- CMMS knowledge
- Familiarity with security systems like Video Access Surveillance, Access Controls, and IDS
- Certification: ERB registration as a Professional Engineer
