Position: Software Developer
Reporting to: IT Project Manager
Role Overview:
The Software Developer plays a key role in both software development and IT system management at VisionFund Tanzania Microfinance Bank. This role involves developing and maintaining software applications, managing IT systems, and ensuring everything runs smoothly to support our mission of delivering financial services to underserved communities.
You’ll work closely with teams across the bank to build secure, efficient IT solutions that align with our strategic goals.
Main Responsibilities:
- Software Design & Development: Create, test, and launch software applications.
- API Integration: Build APIs to link our systems with third-party services and internal tools.
- Programming & Coding: Write clear, scalable code using PHP, Python, Java, C#, JavaScript, and other languages.
- Content Management Systems: Work with CMS platforms like CodeIgniter.
- Databases: Maintain SQL and Non-SQL database systems, ensuring data integrity.
- Testing & Debugging: Regularly test and fix bugs to ensure software meets performance standards.
- Team Collaboration: Work with designers, project managers, and other developers to deliver user-friendly features.
- System Maintenance: Maintain and upgrade existing systems to ensure they are reliable, secure, and efficient.
- Documentation: Keep technical documents like software specs and user guides up to date.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma in Software Development.
- Experience: 4+ years as a Software Developer.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in programming languages like PHP, Java, Python, C#, and JavaScript.
- Familiarity with SQL, Non-SQL databases, and APIs.
- Experience with Agile or Scrum methodologies.
- Knowledge of version control systems like Git.
- Familiarity with CMS platforms.
Other Key Skills:
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
