Security Lead – Tanzania

Job Purpose:

  • Adapt and coordinate the implementation of DHL Supply Chain (DSC) Regional Security policies and standards in Tanzania.
  • Ensure we protect people, assets, sensitive information, and our public reputation.
  • Minimize risk exposure by applying unified DHL security standards through risk classification and audits nationwide.
  • Lead and manage people at the country level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement country security standards, policies, and programs that align with regional guidelines and the DHL Global Security framework.
  • Review, manage, and investigate security incidents, reporting metrics, trends, and root causes to management.
  • Ensure rollout of risk assessments, audits, and security training programs at the country level.
  • Maintain an overview of security costs, ensuring transparency and managing budgets and profit and loss statements.
  • Deliver customer value through optimized security performance.
  • Achieve DPDHL security standards by collaborating with DSC country management on policy implementation.
  • Reduce losses, incidents, and claims related to security.
  • Identify security risk levels and gaps, reporting on corrective actions.
  • Optimize cost efficiency and resource use.
  • Gain positive feedback from customers, positioning security as a business differentiator.

External Relations:

  • Manage customer complaints about security incidents.
  • Advise local customers on security measures.
  • Build relationships with law enforcement and regulatory bodies.

Internal Relations:

  • Offer security advice to country sales and management teams.
  • Support regional security management and local nominees.
  • Provide monthly metrics on security incidents to management.
  • Collaborate with site management, operations personnel, and country management to promote security as a value add.
  • Maintain strong relationships with the sales organization.

Process Development:

  • Create and implement security processes and procedures across the country.
  • Launch risk classification, assessment, and audit programs.
  • Initiate security awareness and training programs.
  • Set up security incident reporting, investigations, and trend analysis.
  • Apply security standards with subcontractors and for new projects.
  • Help with technical security equipment installation for upgrades or new builds.
  • Ensure team members understand security policies, procedures, and departmental strategies.
  • Encourage continuous development of team members.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certification from professional security bodies is preferred.
  • Relevant academic qualifications in Security, Criminology, or Risk Management are highly desired.
  • A Law Enforcement or Military background is advantageous.
  • At least 1 year of experience in the division is preferred.
  • 3-5 years in security management, including 1-2 years in logistics.
  • Familiarity with the local or regional context is preferred.
  • Full 7-year employment history required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft tools is a plus.
