WAJAMAMA Foundation (soon to be officially renamed WAJAMAMA Community Health) is a dedicated non-governmental organization focused on improving maternal and child health in Zanzibar. Our mission is to make health care accessible, especially for women and girls. WAJAMAMA works hard to close health care gaps with innovative, sustainable solutions and by empowering local communities.

Job Overview:

We’re looking for a skilled and passionate Project Manager to lead our flagship Group Care Program. This role requires a unique mix of clinical knowledge and program management skills. You’ll oversee the research, development, and growth of integrated health care services, focusing on comprehensive maternal care during the crucial first 1,000 days after conception.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, execution, and improvement of the Group Care Program aimed at transforming maternal and child healthcare.
  • Oversee a multi-disciplinary team, including medical professionals, researchers, and local community health workers.
  • Manage the program budget wisely to ensure resources are allocated effectively and sustainably.
  • Conduct thorough monitoring and evaluation of program outcomes, measuring them against defined objectives and international health standards.
  • Build relationships with community leaders, government entities, and stakeholders to ensure program success and integration.
  • Use data-driven strategies to inform evidence-based improvements and expansions.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations for WAJAMAMA executives, funding bodies, and policymakers.
  • Lead capacity-building initiatives to ensure lasting program impact and community empowerment.
  • Ensure compliance with national and international health regulations and ethical standards related to maternal and child health.

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree (MD) or a degree in Nurse-Midwifery is required.
  • Master’s in Public Health (MPH), focusing on maternal and child health, epidemiology, or a similar field.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing healthcare programs, preferably in maternal and child health.
  • Proven leadership experience in clinical settings and program management.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with healthcare statistics.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex health concepts simply to various audiences.
  • Innovative thinker who can adapt to complex situations.
  • Fluency in English is required; knowing Swahili or other languages is a plus.
