Background and Purpose of the Role

WFP’s mission is to achieve Zero Hunger worldwide. Every day, they work to ensure that no child goes to bed hungry, focusing on helping vulnerable populations access nutritious food.

In July 2022, WFP Tanzania launched its five-year Country Strategic Plan (CSP) for 2022-2027. This plan aims to support the Government of Tanzania in improving nutrition, health, and education services for vulnerable groups. WFP will work to tackle malnutrition in line with national priorities, including the National Multi-sectoral Nutrition Action Plan (NMNAP II).


Key Responsibilities

In this role based in Dar es Salaam, you’ll report to the Head of Nutrition and be involved in several exciting tasks, including:

  • Program Design & Implementation: Help create and manage nutrition, HIV, and school feeding programs, ensuring they align with national priorities and WFP standards.
  • Project Management: Provide support for specific projects, ensuring a coordinated approach and compliance with WFP guidelines.
  • Technical Advice: Offer strategic guidance on designing effective nutrition programs, including community engagement and transfer methods to maximize impact.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Engage with national and local governments to implement nutrition and school feeding priorities.
  • Capacity Building: Assist WFP staff and partners in responding to nutrition and health needs.

Evidence Generation and Partnerships

You’ll also focus on data collection, monitoring, and reporting for nutrition and school-based programs, ensuring high-quality standards. Your tasks will include:

  • Data Tracking: Analyze and report on nutrition and school feeding program data, aiding in informed decision-making.
  • Resource Mobilization: Identify funding opportunities, draft proposals, and contribute to advocacy efforts to strengthen nutrition programs.
  • Cross-Sector Collaboration: Participate in national and UN initiatives to promote nutrition and food systems, enhancing partnerships across sectors.

Qualifications and Experience

To qualify for this position, you’ll need:

  • Education: An advanced degree in Public Health Nutrition, Nutrition, Public Health, or a related field.
  • Languages: Fluency in English and Swahili.

Desired Experience:

  • Experience: At least three years working in nutrition, HIV, or public health programs.
  • Project Management: A minimum of two years managing relevant programs and developing associated policies and strategies.
