1.0 INTRODUCTION

TAHA is a leading private sector organization focused on enhancing horticulture in Tanzania. We promote the growth of flowers, fruits, vegetables, spices, herbs, and horticultural seeds. Our mission is to boost the horticultural industry’s competitiveness for social and economic benefits. TAHA serves as a unified voice for Tanzanian horticulture, representing farmers, processors, exporters, and service providers across the industry.

To support this mission, TAHA has established the TAHA Research and Information Centre (TARIC). This center serves as an information hub for the horticultural industry in Tanzania. The TARIC Manager will lead horticultural research, manage data collection and dissemination, and coordinate research partnerships.

TAHA is looking for a TARIC Manager to effectively coordinate and implement research and information activities.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The TARIC Manager will coordinate and implement research and information activities aimed at supporting Tanzania’s horticultural sector. This role involves engaging stakeholders, managing research partnerships, operationalizing a digital platform, and leading a dedicated team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinating Horticultural Research and Information

  • Identify and address key research issues in the horticulture sector.
  • Establish and manage strategic research partnerships within horticulture.
  • Oversee the implementation of the research partnership platform in horticulture.
  • Respond to data and information requests from stakeholders.
  • Facilitate data collection, analysis, and dissemination of research findings.

Partnership Management and Resource Mobilization

  • Engage with investors, academia, government agencies, and development partners to build collaborative partnerships.
  • Identify and mobilize financial, technical, and human resources to support TARIC activities.
  • Develop strategic partnerships to enhance TARIC’s initiatives.

Operationalization of TARIC Digital Platform

  • Provide guidance on the design and functionality of TARIC’s digital platforms to meet stakeholder needs.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for TARIC aligned with TAHA’s goals.

Team Management

  • Assemble and manage a skilled team for TARIC’s successful operation.
  • Promote a positive and collaborative work environment through guidance, support, and professional development for team members.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Agricultural Economics, Business Management, or a related field.
  • A Post-Graduate Degree is a plus.

Experience

  • At least 5 years in research and information management, preferably in agriculture or horticulture.
  • Proven experience in managing research initiatives and partnerships.
  • Background in resource mobilization and stakeholder engagement.

Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in project management and team leadership.
  • Familiarity with digital platforms and data management tools.
  • Passion for horticulture and a commitment to enhancing the industry in Tanzania.
