Are you ready to make a difference in the world of finance? As the person in this role, you'll report to the Head of Credit. Your main focus will be on managing high-value accounts that aren't performing well. This includes restructured and stressed accounts. Your goal? To renegotiate and restructure these accounts to help them return to a healthy, performing status.
Duties and Responsibilities: Key Actions for Success
Your job will include a variety of important tasks:
- Reviewing Business Viability: Check the historical performance of accounts to find out why they're struggling.
- Analyzing Financials: Work with credit analysts to review projected financial statements.
- Client Visits: Conduct physical visits to clients and inspect collateral to understand their situation better.
- Engaging Service Providers: Collaborate with lawyers, fundraising agents, valuers, and auctioneers to support account recovery.
- Client Relationship Management: Since these accounts are large and complex, you’ll handle the client relationships directly. This helps business heads and Relationship Managers (RMs) focus on developing new business.
- Providing Feedback: Share insights with the Credit team and business colleagues about what you've learned from struggling accounts. This can lead to better policies and processes in the future.
- Training Staff: Regularly train team members involved in the credit process.
- Support Debt Recovery: Assist with complex debt recovery cases and help rehabilitate accounts before they’re handed back to performing portfolio managers.
- Collaborate with Other Units: Work closely with Corporate Banking, Debt Recovery, and Legal teams to resolve issues with stressed assets.
Qualifications: What You Need to Succeed
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree is a plus!
- Certification: Additional certification in a relevant area is desirable.
Work Experience: Required Background
- Experience: You should have at least 7 years of experience in credit-related functions and 3 years in a managerial role. Experience in a similar position is a plus.
Personal Attributes: Skills That Shine
- Negotiation Skills: You’ll need excellent negotiation and relationship management skills.
- Credit Analysis: Solid experience in credit analysis and remediation is essential.
- Debt Restructuring: Familiarity with debt restructuring and covenant setting will help.
- Strategic Planning: You should be able to design and implement turnaround strategies.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding the BOT prudential guidelines and Banking Act requirements related to lending is key.
Effort and Involvement: What to Expect
This role involves sitting at a desk for long periods while reviewing documents on a computer. You'll also interact with team members and meet both internal and external stakeholders regularly.
Performance Evaluation: Keeping Track
Performance evaluations take place bi-annually, in June and December.
