Position: ICT Officer II (Data Centre & Server Administrator)
Department: Directorate of Operations
Section: Network & Infrastructure
Reports to: Manager Network & Infrastructure
Location: Head Office – Dar es Salaam
Position Objective:
As an ICT Officer II, you’ll manage and support our Datacenters, servers, storage, and backup solutions, ensuring they meet the changing needs of our business while providing essential functions across the bank.
Key Responsibilities:
- Server Management: Install, configure, test, troubleshoot, and maintain server operating systems while participating in various technical projects.
- Project Involvement: Take part in new projects focusing on Windows and file-server sharing, data migrations, and disaster recovery support.
- Storage Management: Oversee daily operations for Network Attached Storage (NAS), Direct Attached Storage (DAS), and Storage Area Network (SAN), working with business representatives to meet operational needs.
- Microsoft Exchange Support: Manage and maintain Microsoft Exchange Servers, ensuring smooth daily operations.
- Storage Projects: Engage in all storage-related projects, including acquiring new storage solutions and upgrading existing systems.
- Monitoring Infrastructure: Monitor the availability, performance, scalability, and security of our storage and server infrastructure.
- Backup Support: Provide ongoing support for backup systems, ensuring reliable configurations for both bare-metal and virtual machines.
- Information Security: Maintain high standards of information security across the server infrastructure.
- Backup Issue Management: Monitor and resolve critical backup issues, developing recovery processes for failures and performance lags.
- System Management Tools: Install and maintain system management tools, ensuring they are up to date with the latest patches and firmware.
- Data Replication Verification: Ensure the highest levels of system availability, verifying data replication and failover copies.
- Application Performance Testing: Monitor application performance for bottlenecks, working with developers to implement solutions.
- Support System Design: Contribute to the design of information and operational support systems, providing 2nd level support.
- Technical Documentation: Ensure all technical documentation is current and comprehensive.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, Telecommunication, or related fields.
- Experience: At least 4 years in the Banking, Technology, or Financial sectors.
- Certifications: Preferred certifications include VMware Certified Technical Associate (VCTA), ITIL, Linux Administration, and Microsoft Administration.
- Virtualization Experience: Experience with VMware vSphere and related backup products is highly desired.
- Storage Knowledge: Familiarity with storage, backup, replication, and recovery processes within similar organizations is preferred.
- UNIX Knowledge: Basic knowledge of UNIX system administration is a plus.
- Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills in English and Swahili.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent planning and organizational abilities.
