Position: HR and Administration Assistant

This role is based in Arusha and offers the chance to be a key part of their HR and administration team.
What You’ll Be Doing
As the HR and Administration Assistant, you’ll help keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes. You’ll be a go-between for the management and employees, handling a variety of HR tasks, from recruitment to employee records, ensuring everything is up to date and in line with Tanzanian labor laws.
Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll do:
- Liaison Duties: Be the go-to person between the management and staff. You’ll help address employee concerns, deal with grievances, and provide decision support when needed.
- Compliance: Keep the company on track with labor laws, HR policies, and legal requirements.
- Recruitment Support: Assist with hiring new talent, including staff development, training, and managing performance appraisals.
- Positive Work Environment: Promote a healthy, inclusive work culture where everyone gets equal opportunities.
- Employee Records: Maintain detailed employee files and ensure all HR documentation is organized and up-to-date.
- HR Systems: Help develop and monitor strategies, systems, and procedures that align with HR goals.
- Payroll: Support the payroll process and respond to any payroll-related queries from employees.
- Leave & Disciplinary Management: Handle employee leave, resignations, terminations, and disciplinary actions, all while staying compliant with Tanzanian labor laws.
- Negotiations: Represent the company in discussions between management, staff, and trade unions if necessary.
- Health & Safety: Ensure that the company is compliant with health and safety regulations. This includes supporting initiatives aimed at boosting employee welfare.
- Onboarding: Help new hires settle in by preparing orientation materials and organizing induction sessions.
- Legal Compliance: Make sure the company follows laws related to OSHA, WCF, Fire Services, and TBS.
- Employee Support: Be there to answer employee questions about HR policies, benefits, and procedures.
- General Admin: Help with general office duties, like organizing events, filing paperwork, handling correspondence, and scheduling meetings.
- Event Coordination: Plan and organize team-building activities, training sessions, and company events.
What You Need
To be successful in this role, here’s what we’re looking for:
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field.
- HR Knowledge: Solid understanding of HR practices, principles, and Tanzanian labor laws.
- Organizational Skills: You’re good at juggling tasks, staying organized, and managing your time efficiently.
- Communication Skills: You know how to talk to people, listen well, and handle conversations with ease.
- Confidentiality: You’re trusted to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
- Teamwork: Able to work independently but also a great team player when needed.
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Saturday: 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM
