Job Overview
Your main role will be to develop and lead a strong strategy for Absa Bank Tanzania’s customer network and sales channels. You’ll focus on both digital and physical touchpoints, ensuring optimal distribution across branches, loan centers, and sales teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create a balanced strategy for both branch and digital banking (ATMs, mobile banking, etc.)
- Lead sales growth through branches, direct sales, and workplace banking initiatives
- Set up and manage customer retention and post-sales support through our Customer Life Cycle Management (CLM) team
- Increase customer engagement in digital banking services like Hello Money and Internet Banking
- Improve ATM and branch alignment with business goals
- Support all branches, even those in far-reaching locations
- Manage the reputational and operational risks involved in retail banking transformation
Accountability Breakdown:
50% – Customer Network Strategy
- Develop and update the branch and digital banking strategy
- Lead efforts to optimize branch locations using data and customer demographics
- Ensure compliance with Absa’s banking and regulatory standards
- Collaborate with segment heads to maintain efficiency across all customer channels
- Conduct profitability analysis for all banking channels
30% – Sales Growth & Strategy
- Drive workplace banking and direct sales efforts to onboard new customers
- Implement outreach campaigns to grow customer engagement across personal, prestige, and premier segments
- Oversee performance in workplace banking and direct sales to achieve retail business goals
- Manage business relationships to expand Absa’s reach in employee payroll and loan services
20% – Team Leadership
- Foster a collaborative team culture that emphasizes working together to meet goals
- Maintain strong relationships with internal teams, stakeholders, and third-party suppliers
- Lead teams in providing top-notch customer service across all channels
Risk and Compliance:
- Act as the crisis coordinator for your business unit, handling any significant issues
- Regularly review business risks and compliance needs, advising the Managing Director as needed
- Stay up-to-date on regulatory changes and understand how they impact the business
Required Skills:
- Strong experience in managing branch distribution and digital channels
- Proven leadership in sales and customer service operations
- Ability to analyze customer needs across different African markets
- Skilled in project management and problem-solving
Experience:
- 10+ years of senior leadership experience in the banking industry, ideally in Africa
- Proven track record in developing successful distribution strategies
- BSc/BCom degree or equivalent
- MBA preferred, with project management certification
