Job TITLE: Graduate Hydrogeologist

Position: Graduate Hydrogeologist
Contract Type: Unspecified Time Contract
Department: Technical Services
Reporting To: Superintendent 1—Hydrogeology
Number of Positions: One (1)

Purpose of the Role: The Graduate Hydrogeologist will support the Hydrogeology team by collecting, analysing, and interpreting hydrogeological data from both open pit and underground operations. This role involves managing hydrogeological activities across all operational sites and providing recommendations to enhance daily operations in line with the company’s objectives and values.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in geology or hydrogeology from a recognised university.

Experience:

  • A minimum of one year of experience in mining operations (both open pit and underground) with a solid foundation in hydrogeology.
  • Proficiency in interpreting geophysical data, supervising drilling activities (RC), conducting rock chip and core logging, and strong report-writing skills.
  • Experience in overseeing hydro-drilling projects is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Capture, analyse, and interpret hydrogeological field data, reporting on collected data and completed projects.
  • Apply geophysical data effectively in the field of hydrogeology.
  • Conduct field activities in a safe and sustainable manner, adhering to HSE standards.
  • Ensure high-quality hydrodata collection, following appropriate quality analysis and control procedures.
  • Assist in supervising hydro-drilling projects to ensure timely completion within budget constraints.
  • Comply with all applicable AGA policies and procedures.
  • Safeguard all samples and analytical results, maintaining confidentiality of company information.
  • Demonstrate consistent work behaviour in alignment with AGA’s values, adhering to company policies and legislative requirements.
  • Communicate promptly with supervisors regarding accountability issues and identify opportunities for safety performance improvement.

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid driving licence.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS or other hydrogeological software.
  • Ability to understand and interpret hydrogeological data, including pump performance and efficiencies.
  • Knowledge of borehole and piezometer drilling principles.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team with minimal supervision.
