East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP)

Who We Are

The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) is a major project stretching across Uganda and Tanzania. Once finished, EACOP will operate a 1,443 km long, electrically heated crude oil export pipeline. This pipeline will transport oil from Kabaale – Hoima in Uganda all the way to the Chongoleani Peninsula near Tanga Port in Tanzania, where it will be exported internationally.

Job Description

As an Accounts Payable specialist based in Dar es Salaam, you’ll handle over 900 invoices and expense claims every month. EACOP Ltd is a UK-registered company with operations in Uganda and Tanzania, and shareholders include TotalEnergies, UNOC, TPDC, and UNOC. The main focus is building and running a 1,442 km oil pipeline from Uganda to Tanzania.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Receive and review invoices from vendors to ensure they meet company standards, then post and submit for approval.
  • Work with the Tax team to manage the VAT relief process.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including Cost Controllers and Procurement, to approve invoices, manage purchase orders, and resolve any issues.
  • Respond to inquiries from vendors and colleagues.
  • Reconcile monthly supplier statements, correct any discrepancies.
  • Assist the Chief Accountant with external audits.

Context and Environment

EACOP Ltd is in full construction mode for the pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and post vendor invoices on time for payment.
  • Follow up on vendor accounts.

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years in an accounting role, with ACCA Level 2 qualifications.

Skills:

  • Strong organizational and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent communication in English, both spoken and written.
