Kilombero Sugar Company Limited (KSCL), the largest producer of sugar in the country, operates cohesively with Illovo Distillers Tanzania Limited (IDTL) and is a member of Illovo Sugar Africa Limited (Africa’s largest sugar producer). Job Purpose 
The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing the "Kilombero Way of Optimization by implementing world-class practices to optimize sugar recovery and contributing to the optimization strategy with a view towards long-term growth, optimal efficiency, and sustainability.

Specific duties and responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the in-country production optimization strategy with the objective of effectively optimizing performance and the cost of production.
  • Drive production, recovery, and extraction initiatives that will deliver products at volume, cost, and quality levels that drive profitability.
  • Drive synergies with the group, effectively partnering with group counterparts to identify, share, and embed opportunities for production optimization.
  • Provide expertise on complex, multi-faceted production issues and support and advise on solutions.
  • Model and simulate factory balance to understand bottlenecks and key efficiency drivers, and use the model to propose solutions, drawing on factory real-time data.
  • Set direction, implement, and monitor continuous improvement by driving work practices and ensuring that tools and techniques are being applied to deliver high-quality products made in a safe and sustainable manner at the highest extraction rate.
  • Contribute to production and supply-side plans and monitor compliance with them.
  • Optimize the cost of production.
  • Conduct regular internal and external benchmarking exercises to identify and develop production best practices and improvement opportunities.
  • Address all technical process audit findings.
  • Support production teams in developing the necessary skills and experience to meet current and future needs.
  • Management of technical standards, MOPS, TOPS, process specifications, best practices, and policies and the governance thereof

Job Requirements:
  • in chemical and process engineering or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • 3+ years experience in sugar production and a sound knowledge of the manufacturing process
  • Lean six-sigma knowledge is an added advantage.
  • a proven track record of technical leadership and process design engineering experience.
  • Good data analysis and interpretation skills
  • Deep root cause analysis skills and experience.
  • Above-average digital literacy
  • Self-motivated and the ability to motivate others.
  • Excellent communicator, both in Swahili and English.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and lead
  • Above-average training facilitation skills

Terms of Service:
The successful candidate will be engaged on a permanent contract.
