UZIKWASA is an NGO doing its operation in Pangani District and Tanzania Main Land with the aim of facilitating social change through strengthening voices in rural communities, the development of committed leaders, and collaboration with partners. UZIKWASA programs are as follows: 1.
Gender justice, GBV, IPV, VAC, 2. Climate change and its influence on GBV; and 3. Partnerships for shared learning. Our programs integrate transformative leadership training using reflective approaches. This is complimented by a multimedia approach towards transforming social and cultural norms in order to root out practices of gender violence, including intimate partner violence and violence against children.

Purpose of the Job
perform accounting activities and ensure that correct financial information is maintained in an accurate manner for use. In carrying out her or his duties, she or he makes sure that the principles of internal control and UZIKWASA financial and administrative policies are adhered to and procedures and standards are followed. The accountant works closely with the fiancé manager and other program staff to assist them in matters around financial planning and operationalization. He or she actively participates in UZIKWASA learning events whenever the need arises.
Responsibilities include;
Ø Managing both the day-to-day and strategic financial administration of UZIKWASA in compliance with authority and UZIKWASA regulations, policies, and procedures
Ø Implementing proper protocol to ensure the programs are operating under consistent financial practices
Ø Working with appropriate statutory authorities to ensure proper and timely remittance and filing, as well as overseeing payroll administration for project and program employees.
Ø Maintaining a good working relationship with UZIKWASA bankers and ensuring banking activities are processed in a tinny and professional manner
Ø Assisting with the preparation of annual, quarterly, and monthly budget forecasts for project operation expenses Ensures timely imprest retirement through follow-up and collaboration with staff and partners.
Ø Prepare the payment voucher and check for accuracy before releasing it to the next step for review, authorizations, and the availability of all necessary supporting documents.
Ø Perform the filling system in the finance department efficiently.
Ø Ensures that all accounting transactions are posted
Ø Prepare documents for the annual audit.
Ø Participate in the preparation of organizational budgets and support program staff in the preparation of operational budgets and plans.
Ø Guide the cashier in performing her duties
Ø Reconcile petty cash before replenishment.
Ø Reconcile radio sales and amount banked.
Ø Ensure regular updates of the fixed asset register at quarterly intervals and ensure that annual depreciation is calculated.
Ø Make available to the external auditors all required records, books of accounts, and any other information required for the smooth performance of the audit.
Ø Perform bank reconciliations and quick book reconciliations.
Ø Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:
· Bachelor degree in accounting, finance, auditing, or a related field and ACA/ACCA/CPA qualifications
· Minimum three (3) years post-qualification experience as an accountant or finance professional
· Experience as an accountant with NGO development working with a donor agency, preferably
· Strong knowledge of Tanzanian tax regulations
· Ability to understand accounting practices and procedures to analyze data.
· Narrative reports and workload flow charts
· Proficiency in QuickBook, Excel, and Word documents and ability to use commercially available accounting software programs
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
