JOB VACANCIES ANNOUNCEMENT
Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) entered into a contract for the UPGRADING OF TAMCO - VIKAWE - MAPINGA (23KM) TO BITUMEN STANDARD, LOT II: PANGANI - MAPINGA SECTION (13.59KM) on behalf of the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania. Contract No.: TRD/HQ/1069/2022/23

As a measure to strengthen the capacity of discharging TANROADS functions effectively, the Regional Manager’s Office TANROADS-Coast, on behalf of the Chief Executive, seeks to recruit qualified and competent Tanzanian citizens to fill vacant posts for specific duties on a short-term basis.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and competent Tanzanians to fill vacancies in the region. Successful applicants must be ready to work for a considerable length of time in the Coast Region within the project area when situations warrant.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
Appointment will be on contract terms of one (1) year, renewable subject to satisfactory performance, efficiency, and effectiveness.

OFFICE SECRETARY (1 POST) Office Secretary at TANROADS Kibaha, August 2023
Must be a Tanzanian citizen who is a holder of a Diploma in Secretarial Studies or equivalent qualifications from recognized institutions with good working experience of at least seven (7) years in a related field.

She or he should be responsible for maintaining an office diary, preparing correspondence reports, facilitating site meetings, attending visitors, attending office phone calls, and performing other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

STRUCTURE ENGINEER (1P0ST)

The structure engineer shall be fully responsible for structural analysis, design of bridge and drainage elements, and detailing. He or she will be responsible for the assessment of existing bridges, the design of new bridges, and all drainage structures along the project road, including the submission of the report. He or she should have the ability to read and submit the report. He or she should have the ability to read and interpret project specifications.

She or he must be a registered civil engineer with a degree in civil engineering, bridge engineering, or structural engineering. She or he must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in bridge design and construction. She or he must have experience with bridges and road works of similar nature. She or he shall be responsible for ensuring the bridges and other drainage structures are constructed according to design and conform to the contract specifications. In addition, he or she must have working experience of at least 3 years in sub-Saharan countries. Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory.

MATERIALS ENGINEER
(1 POST)
Materials Engineer at TANROADS Kibaha August, 2023

The soils and materials engineer shall be responsible for conducting and supervising the materials investigation with a view to achieving optimal design and construction strategies. The soil/materials engineer who shall carry out the pavement and bridge design should be conversant with current practice in testing and pavement construction techniques.

He or she must be a registered professional civil engineer with a degree in civil engineering, pavement engineering, or materials engineering. Postgraduate qualification in pavement or materials engineering is an added advantage. She or he must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in pavement and material matters related to road works. She or he must have served on at least two (2) road projects of similar magnitude and complexity in the last seven (7) years. She or he shall be responsible for ensuring the quality of all materials to be incorporated in the works, as well as the completed works, conform to the contract specifications. In addition, he or she must have working experience of at least 3 years in sub-Saharan countries. Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory.

CAD TECHNICIAN (1 POST) CAD Technician at TANROADS Kibaha, August 2023
The CAD Technician shall be fully responsible for roads and bridge CAD drawings, preparing and running animations for the projects.

She or he must possess a minimum diploma in civil or highway engineering from a recognized institution. She or he must be registered with ERB as a civil technician. She or he must have five (5) years of specific experience in drawings and drafting of road and highway works and construction. Must have served in a similar capacity on at least two (2) road construction projects in the last five (5) years. In addition, he or she must have working experience of at least 3 years in sub-Saharan countries. Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory.

TOPOGRAPHICAL SURVEY (1 POST)

The topographical surveyor shall be fully responsible for conducting and supervising the survey team. He or she will be responsible for planning the fieldwork, selecting survey reference points, and determining the precise location of important features in the survey area. He or she shall be responsible for searching for legal records, looking for evidence of previous reference survey points (geodetic reference points and national benchmarks), analyzing the data to determine the location of boundary lines, recording the results of the survey, verifying the accuracy of the data, and preparing plans, maps, and reports.

He or she must possess a minimum diploma in land surveying. She or he must be a registered land surveyor. She or he must have eight (8) years of specific experience in road design and construction. She or he must have served in a similar capacity on at least two (2) road construction projects of similar magnitude and complexity over the last 10 years. In addition, he or she must have working experience of at least 3 years in sub-Saharan countries. Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory.

Assistant Surveyor (1 Post) at Tanros Kibaha, August 2023
The assistant surveyor shall be fully responsible for conducting and supervising the survey team. She or he must have a Diploma (NTA Level 6) in Land Surveying. Must have five (5) years of specific experience in road design and construction. He or she must serve in a similar capacity on at least two (2) road construction projects of similar magnitude and complexity within the last two years. Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory.

MATERIALS TECHNICIAN (1 POST)

The Soils/Materials Technician shall be responsible to inspect and report on roads and bridge maintenance works, to supervise road and bridge maintenance works, to measure and certify works for payment, to undertake road inventory and condition surveys, to undertake road traffic counts, to carry out in situ testing, to monitor laboratory test results and trends, to prepare invoices for materials testing, to prepare site reports, and to perform such other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

The soils and materials technician must hold a Full Technician Certificate (FTC) or diploma in civil or highway engineering, or equivalent qualification from recognized institutions, with good working experience of at least seven (7) years in a related field.

HIGHWAY ENGINEER (1 POST)

The highway engineer shall be fully responsible for the supervision of the construction in accordance with the provisions of the contract. He or she shall supervise the construction works with due diligence and efficiency and in accordance with sound technical, administrative, financial, and economic practices. He/she shall perform all duties associated with such tasks to ensure that only the best construction practices are followed and that the final product is in all respects equal to, or better than, that specified, at the most economic costs and is carried out in full compliance with the governing specifications.

She or he must be a registered professional civil engineer with a degree in civil engineering or highway engineering. Postgraduate qualification in highway engineering is an added advantage. She or he must have a minimum of seven (7) years of experience related to road design and construction. She or he must have served in a similar capacity on at least two (2) projects for the construction of bituminous roads of similar magnitude and complexity in the last 7 years. Her duties shall comprise road surveys, construction of pavement structures, measuring of quantities, and management of site operations. In addition, he or she must have at least 3 years of working experience in sub-Saharan countries. Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory.
