Overview
Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is a semi-autonomous agency under the Ministry's Works, Transport, and Communication, established on July 1, 2000, and suitably responsible for the day-to-day management of the Tanzania Mainland’s trunk and regional roads network.
 
Its primary functions include road network maintenance and axle load control, the implementation of road safety and environmental measures, and the provision of advice on strategic framework policies and plans for the road sector.
 
The Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is vested with the responsibility of maintaining and developing trunk and regional road networks on the Tanzanian mainland. The agency is also responsible for conducting axle load control operations through weighbridges.
THE REGIONAL MANAGER, TANROADS-GEITA, is responsible for the day-to-day management of the trunk and regional road network in Mara Region. Its primary functions include the management and development of works, the operations of the network and axle load control, the implementation of road safety and environmental measures, and the provision of technical advice on road construction design and maintenance.
