2 New Job Vacancies at Ecobank Tanzania - March 2025

ABOUT US

To meet the banking needs of business owners in West Africa, Ecobank was established in 1985. A private regional bank was the original intention of the Federation of West African Chambers of Commerce. After first discussing the idea in Mali in 1972, Gervais Koffi Djondo and Adeyemi Lawson played crucial roles in making it a reality.

More than 1,500 investors from West Africa put $32 million toward the initial paid-up capital of Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI), which had an authorized capital of $100 million.  Recognizing the importance of its regional focus, the ECOWAS Fund for Cooperation, Compensation and Development became its largest shareholder.

In 1985, ETI was granted international organization status and the ability to function as a regional, non-resident financial institution through a Headquarters Agreement it signed with the Government of Togo.

Two of ETI's most important subsidiaries are:

Investment banking and advising services are the specialty of Ecobank Development Corporation (EDC), which operates brokerage houses on stock exchanges throughout West Africa and Central Africa (in Douala and Libreville, respectively).
In order to improve efficiency, service quality, and cost control, the Group's information technology operations are centralized by eProcess International, which is also responsible for administering them.
With 1,305 locations and 1,981 ATMs, ETI served almost 32 million customers as of December 2012.
