Description

The Communications Intern, reporting to the Senior Communications Officer, will provide support in carrying out REPOA's communications strategy. She or he will help with the public's perception of the organisation by carrying out the necessary tasks, such as creating and reviewing strategies for internal and external communications, designing and publishing branding materials as needed, and performing other important deliverables.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in creating and sustaining an engaging brand identity that is consistent with all marketing materials. Contribute to the organisation and execution of REPOA's training programmes and events by developing and implementing strategies for increased exposure and positive brand perception. In order to create effective online posters for use in digital advertising and event planning, you should back the design process.
    Provide assistance with the planning and execution of REPOA's branding materials and/or important publications. Provide assistance with the steps necessary to complete the institution's primary reports, such as research papers, policy summaries, and annual reports. Gather information on REPOA's branding initiatives, research findings, and interactions with traditional and internet media on a regular basis.
    When necessary and/or during high-level visits at REPOA, take images or audiovisual outputs as appropriate for documentation.
    Assist with special events planning, including media briefings and press conferences, and with monitoring press coverage.
    Assist with the processing of requests for procurement pertaining to the Communications Unit.
    Give a hand with keeping REPOA's online presence up-to-date and running smoothly.
    In order to promote internal communication inside the organisation, populate the contents of REPOA's intranet and maintain its activity.
    When needed, provide assistance with translations into Kiswahili. Help coordinate press coverage of REPOA training sessions and events and contribute to the creation of related news releases. Print out some posters and write up some messages that you may share with other interested parties. Keep the Senior Communications Officer apprised of any other tasks that may arise.
Qualifications
  • Higher education at the bachelor's or master's level in a relevant discipline, such as mass communication, marketing, the social sciences, or journalism. Possessing relevant qualifications and practical experience in graphic design could be a plus. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal abilities.

Required Qualifications

  • Three years of progressive, responsible experience in a comparable position at an established, respectable company is required.

All aspects of the organisation's IT infrastructure, including management and support, will fall under the purview of the ICT administrator. In this position, you will be responsible for ensuring that the institution's information and communication technology (ICT) systems are in line with its strategic objectives, as well as for supervising their installation and upkeep.

Responsibilities

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Maintain a current and well-executed information and communication technology plan and policies. Verify the presence, accuracy, and efficacy of the information security protocols. Assisting both the IT department and other employees with their knowledge of different IT solutions. Control and oversee both local and remote server environments. Being responsible for the overall security, data protection, and recovery strategy of the institution's information and communication technology systems, as well as making sure that any new installations adhere to these regulations. Create and oversee the execution of the ICT's annual plan and budget. Ensure the proper setup, configuration, and maintenance of all software and hardware. Keep the company's information and communication technology systems safe, secure, and private. Oversee the servers, routers, switches, and firewalls that make up the network. Contribute to the upkeep and revision of the institution's website as directed by the Communications division. Assist other departments, such as Finance, M&E, and others, in keeping their web platforms up-to-date and maintained. Support employees technically by fixing software, hardware, and connectivity problems. Get the employees trained up on how to use the various forms of information and communication technology. Get service requests and events involving information and communication technologies handled quickly. Monitor the system's performance and implement any necessary enhancements. Verify that backups and recovery processes are well-established and regularly tested. Encourage the launch of endeavours and projects pertaining to information and communication technology. Locate and address departmental information and communication technology needs through collaborative effort. Contribute to the process of assessing and choosing new software, hardware, and technological resources. Keep detailed records of all information and communication technology (ICT) assets, processes, and systems. Keep records of information and communication technology (ICT) usage, problems, and enhancements. Maintain adherence to all applicable rules and regulations. Procure information and communication technology (ICT) goods and services by compiling necessary specifications in accordance with the procurement regulations of the relevant institution.

Knowledge and experience

  • Advanced credentialing in information and communication technology by professionals. Well-founded Windows expertise. Hands-on experience of installing IT gear and applications. Extensive background working with Windows servers and email platforms in the cloud. Ability to work with CentOS, PHP, MariaDB, and the Apache web server. Impressive proficiency in both English and Kiswahili. Competence in administration, particularly in communication.

Qualifications
  1. 1. Educational Background:
  • Academic Requirement: A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, information technology (IT), or a closely related discipline is necessary. It will be more beneficial if you have a master's degree or other postgraduate credentials. Professional Certifications: Advanced certifications such as CCNA, CISSP, or Microsoft Certified IT Professional might be helpful additions to relevant ones, such as CompTIA A+ or Network+.

2. Relevant Training:

Training or coursework in project management, cybersecurity, data management, or software development might be beneficial.
