ANNOUNCEMENT FOR VOLUNTEER TEACHERS TO TEACH PHYSICS AND MATHEMATICS IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN KAGERA REGION
ABOUT KAGERA
Comprising an area of 35,686 km² (13,678 sq mi), Kagera Region is one of Tanzania's 31 administrative divisions and roughly equivalent to the Netherlands. Located in the northwest of the nation, it borders the Geita Region and the Kigoma Region to the south; Rwanda to the west; and Uganda to the north; Lake Victoria, the Mwanza Region, and the Mara Region to the east. Burundi also lies to the southwest of the area. Bukoba is the local capital. Kagera's population in the 2022 national census was 2,989,299, up from 2,450,023 in 2012.
JOB OVERVIEW
Established under the Engineers Registration Act, Cap 63, the government entity known as the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) falls under the Ministry of Works. This board registers and offers professional growth to engineers all around, so it controls the engineering profession.
ERB understands that mathematics and science form the cornerstone of the engineering profession. Consequently, it actively supports gender equality by pushing female students to adopt STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) courses to boost the count of female engineers.
ERB is running a programme called the STEM Support Program (SSP) to help science and mathematics teachers in secondary schools cope with their shortage. Under the direction of the Royal Norwegian Embassy, this project allows volunteer teachers—funded by development partners—to teach physics, chemistry, mathematics, and biology.
ERB is now announcing a volunteer teaching post for secondary school Kagera Region physics and mathematics instructors. The institutions in demand of teachers are:
